SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Pacific Beach residents were seen running for their lives as a pickup truck slammed into several parked vehicles early Thursday.Witness video captured the incident, showing a pickup truck revving its engine, screeching its tires, and slamming into vehicles. Witnesses said at least nine vehicles were damaged. Another video showed neighbors holding the driver down on the ground until police arrived, one neighbor holding the man down in a headlock. Someone nearby could be heard yelling, "don't hurt him," at the group.Police arrive to detain the driver, but it's not clear what led to the dangerous incident.One neighbor who helped hold down the driver said his first reaction was to prevent anyone for getting hurt."My first reaction he needed to get out of the car and restrain him so he didn't hit anyone else," said James Scherr.The driver was taken to a nearby hospital by police for minor injuries. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police have arrested the man they say tried to sexually assault a woman at gunpoint inside a restroom at the Hilton in Old Town Tuesday.According to police, Jason Lee Jones, 31, was arrested and booked into jail for one count of assault with intent to commit a sexual offense.Jones was also arrested for an active parole warrant. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police Monday identified the suspect who reportedly threatened officers with a knife before being shot in the Midway District last week. According to police, Ryan Bowers, 23, was shot by Officer Matthew Steinbach after raising a knife toward officers. Police responded to the 3100 block of Cauby Street just before 10 p.m. January 3 after a caller said Bowers cut his own throat with a knife before it was taken away. According to police, that’s when Bowers pulled a knife out of his jacket and raised it toward officers. The officers drew their weapons while telling Bowers to back up, which he refused to do. “Fearing for his safety, one officer fired his weapon at the male striking him at least once,” police said. Officers administered medical aid to Bowers until paramedics arrived and took him to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. 1036

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Months after one of San Diego’s biggest employers was said to be looking to add up to 1,000 jobs, General Dynamics NASSCO instead announced layoffs.In April, NASSCO held a job fair, claiming the company was looking to add up to 1,000 jobs. Robert Godinez, head of the Boilermakers Union Local 1998, says the shipbuilder didn’t hire close to that number.In total, NASSCO notified nearly 1,500 workers that they could be out of a job in September. The shipbuilder told 10News it expects to let go of closer to 350 workers.The layoffs are in relation to a dry dock accident in July that damaged facilities.One of the company’s employees, Glicerio Cortez, says he doesn’t know exactly what happened in July, but he heard of the damage through coworkers. “They say that they heard like a, something like a bomb, something strong and then the water came all the way to the dry dock,” said Cortez.RELATED: NASSCO delivers layoff notices to 1,500 workersVideo captured by Sky10 shows water flooding the dry dock as debris filled the area.
