Nurses at an assisted living facility in Glendale, Arizona are facing backlash for filming and making fun of elderly patients. The video ended up posted to the social media site 'Snapchat'. The incident occurred at the Glencroft Senior Living facility.  An administrator from Glencroft told Phoenix-based KNXV that the facility cannot discuss personnel issues, but did learn about the video Monday morning and is taking the situation seriously. The video shows an elderly woman using a walker as she advances toward the camera. She is obviously agitated, telling the workers she "almost fell" and is seen asking for her pills. Instead of helping the woman, the nurses continue filming as they watch the woman and mock her.The video came to light after a whistleblower saw it on social media and alerted KNXV, as well as Glencroft, and the Arizona state agency that licenses nurses.She is also a nurse and said she knows the woman who made the video from nursing school. "It just disgusted me that you would treat someone like this," said the whistleblower, who asked to remain anonymous. "This lady obviously has some dementia or something going on."The whistleblower also said she is worried about violations of the patient's rights under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.  KNXV has reached out to the Arizona State Board of Nursing but has yet to receive an answer on this topic.  1468

ORLANDO, Fla. - A baby born at 22 weeks and weighing just 12 ounces is going home after spending six months at the Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies.Doctors said in a press release that baby Diana Peguero is the tiniest baby to ever survive and graduate from the hospital's NICU. Today, she weighs over 7 pounds and is currently thriving at home.According to the Orlando Sentinel, Diana's mother, Jomary Tavarez, was starting to dilate when she went in for a routine checkup in April at 20 weeks pregnant.Doctors then admitted Jomary to Winnie Palmer, and on Mother's Day, Diana was born weighing 12 ounces and was nine inches long.However, after examining her size and development, doctors believe Diana was younger than 22 weeks since gestational age is just an estimate.From May 10 to Nov. 6, Diana spent her first six months of her life in the hospital's NICU, but doctors said she never needed any life-saving surgeries.A few days after giving birth to Diana, doctors discharged Tavarez from the hospital, the newspaper reported. For six months, the couple traveled from their home in Ocala, Florida, to the hospital to see their daughter.According to the newspaper, doctors initially told Tavarez and her husband Federico that most babies, Diana's size, didn't survive the first three days, which Diana did.Diana's medical team continued to set more goals for Diana, which she continued to pass, the newspaper reported.By the end of June, her parents could carry her for the first time. In July, they got to hold her, the paper reported.Diana's parents are thrilled to finally take their first and only child home, especially for Federico, with her coming home a day after his birthday."It's a bittersweet day for us in the NICU," said Dr. Thais Queliz, a neonatologist at Orlando Health Winnie Palmer. "We're sad to see Diana leave since she and her parents have been with us for so long. Officers in New Jersey broke up a large house party in New Jersey with hundreds of people in attendance, authorities said.Police responded to a residence along Mill Pond Road in Jackson following a report of a suspicious incident around 8:30 p.m., according to Jackson Police Department.Officers arrived and spoke with several neighbors who said a house on the street was rented out to a group that was having a large party, causing a disturbance.Police contacted the homeowner, who said he had rented out the residence on Airbnb.The party expanded to about 700 people in attendance, with over 100 vehicles parked in the area, according to police.Officers began clearing the crowd from the residence and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office was contacted and authorized charges against the homeowner and party organizer for violating the state’s executive order in reference to the number of attendees allowed at a gathering.Officers from the Freehold Police Department, Howell Police Department, Lakewood Police Department, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Ocean County Sheriff’s Department, and New Jersey State Police also responded to assist and clear the large crowd from the residence and direct traffic as people left the area, according to authorities.During that time, police also received a call from a resident nearby reporting people who attended the party had broken into their residence and were damaging property.An investigation determined a family member of the caller was at the original party and had invited a large group back to their residence. The group was then dispersed, police said.It took until 1 a.m. for the officers to clear the residences of partygoers and all the vehicles from the neighborhood.The homeowner, later identified as 40-year-old Yaakov Weiss and the party organizers, 23-year-old Patience Guanue and 22-year-old Alicia Hinneh, were issued summonses.Gov. Oklahoma teachers say they have reached their breaking point over pay and school funding and may walk off the job next month.Galvanized by a growing social media campaign, teachers wanted competitive pay to attract and keep teachers in the state. Teachers were hoping for a ,000 raise with House Bill 1033, collectively called the Step Up Oklahoma Plan, which looked to increase the tax on tobacco and gas.However, that bill was voted down in the state House because it didn't get the 75% approval needed to pass, according to Oklahoma Department of Education Superintendent Joy Hofmeister."It was soul-crushing," Hofmeister said.Because of that, and a handful of other failed bills in the last two to three years, teachers are now actively discussing a strike, on the heels of a statewide strike by public teachers in West Virginia."What spurred this momentum was so many teachers across the state are at their wit's end," said Teresa Danks, a third-grade teacher in Tulsa who is also the founder of the nonprofit Begging for Education. "No bills have been passed in favor of teacher pay or funding, the frustration and low morale has continued to grow. We're losing teachers like crazy to other states."One of the authors of HB 1033, Republican Sen. Kim David, did not reply to CNN's request for comment. The legislative assistant for the other author, Republican Rep. Kevin Wallace, said the request for comment was forwarded to the state speaker of the house.
