Many dads were happy to take their loved ones out for a hearty meal, now that COVID-19 restrictions have become a little looser.All around town, there were lines out the door for Father's Day brunch. This was a welcome sight for San Diego restaurant owners."We missed mother's day, and we missed spring break," Johnny Rivera, co-owner of Hash House A Go Go in Hillcrest said. "These are the acorns in our business that we like to gather. And now that it's Father's Day, we feel like kind of back to normal today."During last month's Mother's Day, restaurants were only allowed to offer curbside pick up and delivery due to County Health Department rules. But now that dining restrictions have eased up, the 'Papa Bears' were ready for their big outing."They seem like they're coming out of hibernation a little bit," Rivera laughed.Some were still a bit hesitant to dine out."We were a little skeptical about it, but we still enjoy going out here and there," father, Alan Valdez said. He and his family were dining at Breakfast Republic in Downtown San Diego.Others were publicly ready to celebrate fatherhood with their loved ones."We were all waiting by our cars," a diner at Hash House A Go Go said. "We got a phone call, and everybody kept their distance while we were waiting." Three generations of his family were dining out, after getting a last-minute table at the restaurant. Of course, menu items were all dad-sized and dad-approved."Pork ribs and eggs, chicken wings and eggs, fried chicken, waffle, all things dad needs," Rivera shared."You can take a shower in this bowl, man!" the diner at Hash House said.The best part of the day?"Just hang out, take a day off work," Valdez said."I got my family. SAN DIEGO, Calif. (KGTV) -- A San Diego Couple is breaking the internet after getting married at a Costco in Mission Valley Thursday. Margot Schein and Julian Parris told 10News they made the decision to get married at Costco because, after meeting on a dating app, they decided to have their first date at the store. According to Schein, the couple decided to wed at Costco on their three-year anniversary. The wedding included a custom-made cake from the store, an archway and pallets to hold up bouquets of flowers. Staff at the store even took the time to set up chairs for the event as well as decorate a portion of the Costco with rose petals. “I feel like we have a whole new Costco family,” Margot said. 720

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Patients were reunited with the men and women who care for them on Saturday at The Heart Institute at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego. The event marked the 34th annual Heart Party. Hundreds of young heart patients and their families showed up for games, gifts and fun. Upstairs, doctors and nurses were caring for a couple newborns who had received heart transplants. For one baby to receive a heart, another has to give it. At just four months old, Zoey has taken part in the Lifesharing program.  553

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) --The FDA has placed new restrictions on a controversial birth control device called Essure.The maker of the implant, Bayer, will only be allowed to sell to providers who agree to fully inform women about the risks and side effects.A San Diego woman who had the Essure implant is now suing the physician who performed the procedure.She says she wasn't given enough information and wants to warn others about her experience.Three months after Essure was implanted she began experiencing severe pain. She eventually had a full hysterectomy. 568

SAN DIEGO (KGTV)- Drugs and graffiti were just some of the problems filling parks around San Diego, with most of the activity happening during the night hours. A curfew has now been put in place for several parks.Community members and city leaders threw a party Friday morning to celebrate the change. Residents have been rallying for a curfew at City Heights Square Mini Park, which sits in the middle of an assisted living facility for seniors. Neighbors say before the curfew, they observed everything from gangs and drugs at the park. “We are this beautiful community,” says Delia Contreras. “We have kids, we have a lot of good things, but the drugs are no good.”Since the beginning of the year, 217 crimes have been reported within a 1,500 feet radius of the park. The crimes include assault, theft, and vandalism. “To me, San Diego is a paradise, and we need to clean up the whole town,” says Ronald Tieken. City Heights Square Mini Park will now have a nightly curfew from 9 pm to 5 am. There were other parks around the city with the same problems. Cedar Ridge Mini Park, Montclair Neighborhood Park, North Park Community Park and North Park Mini Park. These parks will now have a curfew of midnight to 6 a.m. “It took a lot of time because we didn’t want to take just one site, so we opened it up for other sites to bring their concerns in, and five parks were identified to go forward with it,” says Raul Contreras, with the city’s Parks and Recreation Department. City Heights Square Mini Park will also offer programs for all ages, like aerobics and arts and crafts. The events are free of charge. 1619
