Wreckage from a steamboat that caught fire and sank exactly 201 years ago has reportedly been spotted at the bottom of a Vermont lake.The Steamboat Phoenix sank on September 4, 1819 on Lake Champlain. There were more than 40 passengers and crew members onboard at 11 p.m. when the fire started.Passengers who were unable to board lifeboats as the steamboat caught fire were forced to jump into the water and cling to debris or swim for their lives to shore. late Monday night.Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were initially called to a local business around 5 p.m. Monday for a report of a burglary-in-progress, according to IMPD Sgt. Grace Sibley.When officers arrived, they saw a man running from the location and into a second building. The people inside were able to get out before the suspect barricaded himself.Sibley said the suspect had tried to rob the first business but fled after realizing that there were still employees inside.IMPD crisis negotiators and SWAT team members secured the area. After an hours-long standoff, the suspect became agitated and pointed a gun at officers, Sibley said. Officers then shot the suspect.The suspect was taken into custody and rushed to St. Vincent Hospital in serious condition, but is expected to survive. No officers were injured in the shooting.Roads in the area were closed during the standoff, which lasted several hours.The incident remains under investigation. after "recent developments in the investigation have led investigators to believe the children may now be in danger."The Stafford County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) says it is searching for Melody Bannister and her four children, who were last seen in Moulton, Alabama on Aug. 20.According to the SCSO, Bannister told deputies in June that her children had been abused by a family member. Child Protective Services later determined the allegations were unfounded, but before the investigation ended, Bannister and her four children left Virginia for a planned vacation to Alabama. They never returned.The Stafford County Juvenile Domestic and Relations Court eventually granted custody of the children to their father. Bannister petitioned the court in Alabama and requested that custody be issued to her there, but courts ordered her to return her children to the father in Virginia.Bannister did not comply and was last seen in Alabama on Aug. 20.
