Some residents in 34 counties in California will lose electricity overnight Tuesday into Wednesday in hopes to reduce the risk of the spread of wildfires, PG&E announced on Tuesday. The power outages could last several days, PG&E said. This is due to high winds that are expected in parts of California on Wednesday and Thursday. Isolated areas could have winds of 60 to 70 MPH. Gusty winds coupled with dry conditions mean conditions will be favorable for wildfires. Power company officials say that the outages will begin in the northern sections of the state, and trickle down into central and coastal sections of California. “The safety of our customers and the communities we serve is our most important responsibility, which is why PG&E has decided to turn power off to customers during this widespread, severe wind event. We understand the effects this event will have on our customers and appreciate the public’s patience as we do what is necessary to keep our communities safe and reduce the risk of wildfire,” said Michael Lewis, PG&E’s senior vice president of Electric Operations.Dozens of community centers will open during daylight hours while power is out. Six Flags announced on Tuesday that its Frontier City theme park in Oklahoma City will reopen on June 5 under strict safety protocols. The theme park will open under reduced capacity when it reopens. Six Flags hopes to gradually increase the number of people allowed in the park through the month of June. SARASOTA, Fla. — A Sarasota, Florida, police officer is at the center of an internal investigation after a video posted on social media showed him kneeling on a suspect's neck.The video — which the Sarasota Police Department said was tagged by other users on social media after the incident happened on May 18 — happened after police said they were called to the area about a domestic issue. It shows two Sarasota police officers working to place 27-year-old Patrick Carroll in custody while a third officer watches nearby. One of the police officers had his knee on the neck Carroll."As I'm yelling and asking why I'm being detained, he's putting his knee on my neck," Carroll said.Carroll says he suffers from asthma and scoliosis and was having trouble breathing."While he's saying I'm resisting, I'm just moving around so I can have circulation in my body and my throat," Carroll said.Carroll was arrested on charges related to battery and domestic violence.The cell phone video of the arrest was just posted to social media on Monday by Carroll's mother, Terria."I just want the Sarasota Police Department to know that I'm upset and I'm not going to stop until somebody has a reasonable explanation as to why he was detained in that manner," Terria Carroll said.Sarasota police said there was no complaint to them about this incident when it happened in May, and were unaware of what had happened until they were tagged in the video on Facebook on Monday."Utilizing your knee on someone's neck is not something that we train. Since the Boeing 737 MAX has been grounded worldwide over safety concerns, the Southwest Airlines Pilots Association claims that its pilots have lost more than 0 million in compensation. The association claims that the grounding of the 737 MAX has caused Southwest Airlines to reduce passenger service by 8 percent. In response, the union representing Southwest Airlines' pilots is suing Boeing for misleading pilots about the aircraft. The union claims misrepresented the airworthiness of the aircraft. The union also claims that two deadly crashes involving the 737 MAX have "damaged the critical bond between pilots and passengers." "As pilots, there is nothing more important to us than the safety of our passengers," said Captain Jonathan L. Weaks, President of SWAPA. "We have to be able to trust Boeing to truthfully disclose the information we need to safely operate our aircraft. In the case of the 737 MAX, that absolutely did not happen."On March 13, 2019, the U.S. Department of Transportation ordered a review of the aircraft, which essentially forced airlines to ground the craft. This followed a pair of crashes over five months that killed 346 people. Initial findings show that the plane had a flaw in the Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System, which caused the plane to nosedive. Because of this and other safety concerns, the fleet of crafts have been grounded since March, and it could still be a number of months before the planes are deemed safe for flight. The are roughly 300 planes currently grounded."Boeing has the greatest respect for the men and women who fly for Southwest Airlines," Boeing said in a statement. "We are aware that their pilot union, SWAPA, has filed a lawsuit against Boeing related to the 737 MAX suspension of operations.
