A plane made an emergency landing right on the shoreline in Ocean City Tuesday afternoon, with vacationers watching just feet away.Officials with the Maryland State Police say no one was injured in the crash.The sole occupant, 23-year-old Trevor H. Deihl took off from Reedville, Virginia on a local fishspotting operation and planned to land at the Ocean City Municipal Airport.Deihl told police he was about a mile from shore when he began to have engine trouble and ultimately glided the plane into the ocean.According to the Ocean City Police Department, an officer observed a small private plane make an emergency water landing at the beach and 21st Street at approximately 6:19 p.m.Personnel from the Ocean City Beach Patrol and the Ocean City Police Department immediately responded to the scene. According to a preliminary investigation, witnesses say the plane appeared to glide toward the water as it descended and then float on the surface of the ocean when it landed. The plane then floated in toward the beach. Graysen Levy of Baltimore was there when the landing happened and captured the video."We were just in the water five minutes prior, got out to dry, turned around to see a plane skimming the water into an emergency landing," Levy said. "The kid got out safely and the plane fully submerged into the water afterwards." A suspect accused of fatally shooting an Illinois deputy assigned to a US Marshals task force while the deputy was trying to serve a warrant in Rockford on Thursday morning will face murder charges, authorities said.Deputy Jacob Keltner, who was with McHenry County Sheriff's Office for almost 13 years, was shot outside the suspect's room, Rockford Police Chief Dan O'Shea said. Keltner, who died at a hospital, had a wife and two children.McHenry County Sheriff Bill Prim said Keltner was a "fine young man.""He was part of a group that chased the worst of the worst," Prim said.A 25-year-old female acquaintance of the suspect was wounded, treated and released from a hospital. She was not charged, O'Shea said. He added that no one from the task force fired a weapon during the incident.The suspect, Floyd E. Brown, was arrested after an hourslong standoff that followed a chase on an interstate through Illinois. He will face a state and a federal murder charge, officials said.Brown was staying at an extended stay motel in Rockford when police attempted to serve warrants for him.After the shooting, the suspect led police on a chase and barricaded himself in his vehicle alongside Interstate 55 in Illinois after being cornered by authorities, Illinois State Patrol Trooper Sean Ramsey said.Law enforcement officers tried for hours to get him to come out of the vehicle. Brown opened his door several times but would not get out, Ramsey said, adding that Brown stopped communicating with police.The county had multiple previous altercations with Brown while serving warrants, Ramsey said. 1608

A night of excess at a Pittsburgh apartment ended with three people dead, four people hospitalized and a police department warning how quickly drugs can kill.Authorities responded to a report of an unconscious man in an apartment complex elevator around 2 a.m. Sunday. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, Pittsburgh Director of Public Safety Wendell Hissrich said.Shortly later, paramedics responded to another man a few blocks away, outside, who was "somewhat conscious" and had symptoms similar to those of the first man. He was taken to a nearby hospital, Hissrich said.Police traced both men back to an apartment on the city's south side.
