(KGTV) -- With both finalists in the race to become San Diego's next mayor being Democrats, a surprise, late endorsement by the Republican who nearly cracked the top two in the primary could help tip the balance in what appears to be a close election.Over the weekend, City Councilmember Scott Sherman endorsed Assemblymember Todd Gloria over fellow Councilmember Barbara Bry. In a Twitter thread, Sherman stated "After much thought, I can’t in good conscience vote for Barbara Bry. She is inauthentic, inconsistent, and untrustworthy."Sherman went on to say that he had disagreements with Gloria on the issues, but praised him for consistency and authenticity. In an interview with ABC 10News, Gloria said he was grateful for Sherman's endorsement. "Clearly we’re from different political parties and we disagree on many, many issues. But at the end of the day, he’s casting his vote based on character. And what he shared is really meaningful to me.”Bry told ABC 10News she believes Sherman endorsed her opponent because she had defeated him in the primary, as well as in issues two faced together on the council. A baby has died after being snatched from his mother's lap by a monkey in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.Neighbors rushed to help after hearing the mother's screams on Monday afternoon in a village near Agra city, according to Agra Police Assistant Superintendent Abhishek, who goes only by his first name.The baby was just 12 days old."They threw stones at the monkey to force it to drop the baby but by the time he abandoned it, he had already attacked him severely on the face," Abhishek told CNN.The child's body was recovered from the terrace of an adjacent house.Police said his injuries indicate he was bitten on the face.Monkey attacks are common in India, especially in the country's capital New Delhi.In Central Delhi, government offices are surrounded by dozens of monkeys swinging from the trees or lounging in the sun on the sidewalk.According to the Delhi government, 268 cases of monkey bites were registered in the city in 2016.In 2018, the Indian government said it had approved a pilot project for immune-contraception to control the population of wild animals including monkeys in the city. 1129

(KGTV) — Ventura Police have arrested a suspect wanted for killing a 55-year-old man in the Midway District on Thanksgiving Day.Forrest Robert Brantley, 38, was taken into custody in Ventura, police announced Wednesday, one day after San Diego Police released his photo to the public.On Nov. 28, SDPD says they received a call about a man who was severely injured in the 3100 block of Sports Arena Boulevard. Officer arrived to find Robert Frank Erbe with severe trauma to his neck.RELATED: Police identify man killed in Midway District stabbingMan stabbed to death in Midway District shopping centerErbe was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died of his injuries. Police said he was a transient in the area.During the investigation, police learned that Brantley and Erbe got into some sort of fight inside the Midway District 7-Eleven location, ending with Erbe being stabbed to death in the neck.Brantley was described as wearing blue digital camouflage pants and a blue hospital surgical mask at the time of the stabbing. 1035

A 39-year-old mother was indicted in New Bedford, Massachusets on Thursday after authorities found 19 dead animals in her 13-year-old son's bedroom, the Standard-Times reported. According to the Standard-Times, police and animal control visited the home when it picked up a stray dog that was believed to belong to Amanda Vicente. When authorities arrived, they found 19 dead animals along with 17 living animals in 27 cages. Police told the Standard-Times that they found piles of feces in the kitchen and the house was in disarray.Authorities found dead lizards, hamsters, cockatiels and finches in the boy's room. The surviving animals were reportedly malnourished. Those animals have been taken to veterinary care. The child has been placed in the custody of relatives.Vicente was allowed to place bond, and will face a judge in December on child abuse and animal cruelty charges. 947
