Phoenix police say a woman has died in an officer-involved shooting Wednesday evening. The incident happened near 43rd Avenue and Union Hills Drive around 7 p.m.Police say no officers were injured in the shooting.According to police, around 6:45 p.m. officers responded to a call of shots fired in the area. As officers arrived, a woman reportedly ran out with an AR-15 style rifle and fired shots which prompted officers to return fire, hitting the woman.Police say the woman was pronounced dead at the hospital. No further information was immediately available.  592

Police in Germantown, Wisconsin are looking for a bathroom creeper who took pictures of a woman while she was using the restroom. It happened Monday afternoon at the McDonald’s on Mequon Road. “While she was in the stall she saw two arms holding some sort of recording device,” Police Chief Peter Hoell said. That’s when the startled woman ran out of the bathroom after the suspect. The restaurant’s manager saw the commotion and ran out of the building behind the woman, they both saw the suspect get into an old RV and take off. “The vehicle should stick out,” said Hoell. Surveillance cameras captured images of the man and his getaway vehicle. Because the man was driving an RV, the chief said he believes he may be from out of town. Hoell hopes that social media will help in the investigation. “Depending on the interest, that post might go to multiple states, we may have an opportunity to identify this person even if he is not from Wisconsin,” said Hoell. 1002

Police are investigating two related robberies that happened late last night.A 71-year-old woman, her adult daughter and juvenile granddaughter were robbed by 2 men around 11:18 p.m. in the parking garage at Treasure Island on the Las Vegas Strip. Police say the 3 females were battered during the incident. The extent of their injuries are unknown.Next, police say a couple, both of whom are 18 years old, were robbed by the 2 men with a gun in a parking lot at Fashion Show mall.Police spotted the men in the parking garage of the SLS hotel-casino. The men rammed an empty patrol car in their attempt to escape. After a short foot chase, they were taken into custody by Las Vegas police.  703

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Blanca Ramirez knows how to step past an obstacle.“We’re trying to register people to vote,” said Ramirez. “It’s really important to vote.”Leading up to the October 5 deadline for voters to register in Arizona, Ramirez walked from shopper to shopper in a grocery store parking lot in south Phoenix, making sure people were registered to cast their ballot.“I come at eight in the morning and start talking to people and see if they are registering to vote,” she said.Ramirez’s mission is driven by the obstacles and hurdles she’s overcome. She came to Arizona from Mexico in 1977.“It was really hard,” she said. “We came from poor people, poor family.”Last year, Ramirez became an American citizen and in November will cast a ballot in a presidential election for the first time."It’s like I'm born again, and they say you’re going to start a new life,” said Ramirez.“When we hear folks are upset about the current state of affairs, no matter the issue, you care about that and so voting is one way we can make a change,” said Araceli Villezcas.Villezcas works for the non-partisan organization One Arizona.The group has registered more than 150,000 people to vote in Arizona this year.“I think it’s one of the most powerful ways of creating change,” Villezcas said.Change is something Arizona has seen a lot of.According to the United States Census Bureau, Arizona is one of the fastest growing states in the nation. Pharmacists will be instrumental in getting the first round of COVID-19 vaccines out, especially for the most vulnerable.Walgreens and CVS have a deal with the U.S. Department of Health to go into more than 50,000 long-term care facilities. Both companies are still recruiting pharmacists, nurses and pharmacy technicians.“I am absolutely supportive of getting a vaccine and I will be the first in line when I am eligible to get one. I believe in vaccines. I believe in the science of vaccines,” said Tasha Polster, who deals with pharmacy quality, compliance and patient safety at Walgreens.Once the vaccine is more widely available, people will be able to sign up online to get the vaccine at a pharmacy location.Walgreens plans to work with communities to set up COVID-19 vaccine sites in other locations, like they do with the flu shot.“We work with churches and local community centers in underserved populations to bring the vaccine to those patients that would you know need them,” said Polster.Speaking of the flu, the pandemic has brought some encouraging news on that front.Walgreens created special map models to show what the flu season has done so far this year compared to last year.
