DETROIT, Mich. -- A 70-year-old woman is suing the Detroit Police Department for millions of dollars, accusing its officers of "violent abuse.""I never in my life had handcuffs on," said the woman, Lisa Wright. But all that changed on Nov. 20, 2019, when Wright said she and her grandson heard a commotion outside her home on Wyoming near Chippewa on Detroit's west side.Wright's grandson opened the door and they were allegedly assaulted by police officers.Thursday, at a press conference with her attorneys, Wright told reporters how she was forced to the ground and handcuffed."We didn't do anything," Wright said they tried to tell police."After they roughed her up and abused her for 30 minutes or so, they just released her," said Wright's attorney, Michael Fortner. "Not even an apology."Wright, whose husband ended up rushing her to a nearby hospital where she remained for seven days, is now suing the City of Detroit and Detroit police for million for alleged physical injuries, post-traumatic stress, humiliation, and mental anguish.It all began on Nov. 20, 2019, when Detroit police officers responded to a 911 call for help at a house three doors away from Wright's home.During that run, two police officers were shot, including officer Rasheen McClain who died from his injuries.Immediately after the shooting, as police were searching the area for the suspect, Wright and her attorneys claim officers dragged her and her grandson out of their home and caused them injuries.In the lawsuit, officers "subjected plaintiff to unlawful searches of her person and property, wrongful arrest/detention, unnecessary and violent abuse, false arrest, and other unconstitutional conduct."Click on the video to hear from Wright and her attorneys.In December, WXYZ began looking into Wright's allegations of police misconduct, and police officials said they were investigating the claims. DESCANSO, Calif. (KGTV) - Four people were seriously injured and one person is in custody following a pursuit with Border Patrol agents on Interstate 8 in East San Diego County Tuesday.Border Patrol said a blue Ford Expedition failed to yield to a marked vehicle just before 11 a.m. on I-8 near Buckman Springs Rd. The vehicle continued on, at one point reaching over 100 miles per hour, and lost control as it approached slower moving traffic. The Ford then careened off I-8 near Japatul Valley Rd., rolling down a ravine and landing on its roof.Two passengers, who were unrestrained, were ejected from the vehicle and sustained major injuries. Two other passengers sustained minor to moderate injuries. All four were taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego and Sharp Memorial Hospital.The driver of the car, a 23-year-old U.S. citizen, was uninjured and tried to flee from the crash, Border Patrol said, but he was quickly apprehended and placed in Border Patrol custody.Three of the four passengers are Mexican nationals, according to Border Patrol. Deputies arrested a Polk City, Florida woman for DUI on a horse in Lakeland on Thursday. Donna Byrne, 53, was riding the horse in the roadway when deputies arrived on scene. Deputies said Byrne smelled like alcohol, had watery bloodshot eyes and was staggering. A field sobriety test was conducted and she was arrested for DUI. Byrne was also charged with animal neglect for failing to provide proper protection to the horse. According to the affidavit, Byrne put the horse in jeopardy of being injured or killed.Byrne blew a .157 and .161 BAC. A breath alcohol level of .08 is the legal limit in Florida. 633

DENVER (AP) — Authorities have arrested a Colorado man they say held two roofing-company salesmen at gunpoint who had been knocking on doors in his neighborhood. Police told KUSA-TV that both salesmen were wearing blue polo shirts with a local roofing company logo when Scott Gudmundsen forced them to the ground Thursday. The 65-year-old Gudmundsen told police he thought they were members of a far-left-leaning group known as Antifa. Police determined the two workers were doing nothing wrong and arrested Gudmundsen. In a letter, Colorado State University university president Joyce McConnell, athletic director Joe Parker, and head football coach Steve Addazio addressed the situation."Our student is a young man of color, while the perpetrator is white," the letter read. "Regardless of what investigators learn or reasons the perpetrator gives, we know this: Our student got up Thursday morning, worked out with his team, then showered, dressed, and went to work. DENVER – Police are investigating a homicide scene after three adults were found dead Thursday afternoon near a major Denver intersection.Police initially said they were investigating a death at the scene, but later tweeted that they were investigating a homicide involving three adults. A Denver police spokesperson confirmed all three people were dead.A news crew at the scene said police appeared to be searching the bushes near the RTD light rail and bus station.
