Police in North Carolina are searching for a suspect that allegedly robbed a boy's lemonade stand at gunpoint.The Charlotte Observer reports that a 9-year-old boy was selling lemonade in Monroe, a suburb of Charlotte, on Sunday afternoon. The boy was approached by a teenager wearing a camouflage hat and a black shirt.The teen stuck a handgun in the boy's stomach and demanded that he hand over the money he made. He fled the scene after receiving the money. The Observer reports that less than was stolen.WCNC-TV reports that a black BB gun, a camouflage cap and a metal tin were found in the woods near the scene. Police could not confirm that the items belonged to the suspect, but they say it seems likely.According to WCNC, the boy returned to selling lemonade soon after the incident. Due to the pandemic, this year’s event was canceled, so a salon in Palm Harbor, Florida decided to do their own internal competition.They aren’t just hairdos, they are works of art at Salon Bella Flora.“I kept getting the comments like, ‘Are you kidding me, this is awesome,'” said owner Flora Paskalakis Stoltz.Before Stoltz owned her own salon, she was traveling the world, cutting and combing hair, against the best of the best.“When you are at the world championships, it’s like being in a huge stadium and there’s hundreds of competitors competing at one time and it's intense,” said Stoltz.So as a way to boost staff morale during a difficult year, she decided to hold her own competition. PHOENIX, Ariz. -- New witness video shows Phoenix police pinning down a 28-year-old man on a scorching summer street just minutes before he became unresponsive and died.Ramon Timothy Lopez was the father of two children, including a newborn baby. Lopez had been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, according to his girlfriend. He worked as a truck driver, and he lived less than a mile from where he encountered police on August 4.The witness, who captured about 20 seconds of cell phone video, said she stopped with other traffic as an officer chased Lopez back-and-forth across 51st Avenue near Indian School Road at about 10:30 a.m. that day. The woman, who also lives in the Maryvale neighborhood, asked KNXV not to use her name. She felt the first officer was overly aggressive toward Lopez."[I] felt he was using a lot of force to slam his body into the ground," the woman said. "The gentleman seems like he was still struggling, but at that point, it seemed like he just didn’t want his face smashed on the asphalt. It was super hot.”Minutes earlier, police were dispatched to a report of a man looking into car windows in a nearby parking lot. Phoenix police say Lopez saw the officer approaching him when he ran into a liquor store, threw a drink at the officer, and ran away into the road."The officer was by himself and when he grabbed hold of Lopez, they both fell onto the hot asphalt and both could have been struck by vehicles on 51st Avenue," Sgt. Mercedes Fortune said in an email to KNXV.Once other officers arrived, "Ramon refused to cooperate and continued to kick and pull away from officers," Fortune added.The witness video, from the moving car, showed one officer holding Lopez's feet to the ground. A second officer appeared to kneel on Lopez's back and a third officer was crouching near his upper body. It's unclear whether he was also on top of Ramon."He did have his left knee in the midst of his back and shoulders," the witness said. "[The officer] had [Ramon's] arms pressed against the tops of his shoulders and his legs were actually on his hand, so at that point, [Ramon] was restrained, and [the officer] was still put in quite a bit of force."Lopez appeared to be holding his head off the pavement, but he was not moving otherwise. Police said they found no drugs or weapons on Lopez.Police say they put Lopez in the back of a police car before he became unresponsive. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead."Officers did not place their knee(s) on Ramon's neck and at no time was his airway obstructed," Fortune said. She added that Ramon was laying on the roadway for a minimal amount of time.Asphalt on a 100-degree morning in Phoenix can become hot enough to cause serious burns on human skin.Fortune also said it would be "highly irresponsible" to assume the cause of death. According to the Maricopa County Medical Examiner website, the autopsy results are still pending.The witness who spoke to KNXV said she also called the Phoenix Police Department to report concerns about what she saw. She said a sergeant returned her call."He let me know he reviewed the body cam and didn't see anything that I was reporting," she said. PITKIN COUNTY, Colo. — A bear attack inside a home left one person with "severe swipe injuries" early Friday in the Aspen, Colorado, area.Randy Hampston, public information officer for the northwest region of Colorado Parks and Wildlife, said a call about the attack came in at 1:28 a.m.Hampston said the house, which is located in the Clear Creek neighborhood outside Aspen, has a lever door handle on its front door. He said some newer homes have this feature to be ADA compliant, but it makes entry much easier for bears."You’re talking about a 400-pound animal — they can push down with enough force to sometimes pop those locks," he said.The homeowner heard noises in the living room and went to check on it, Hampston said. Then, he saw the large bear.The bear swiped at the him, leaving him with severe lacerations to his head, neck and face.The bear then ran out of the home, Hampston said. Other family members in the house called 911.The injured homeowner was transported to a hospital with severe injuries to his face and neck, according to CPW. He is undergoing surgery, but is stable and his injuries are not life-threatening.Hampston said CPW has been receiving reports of a bear in the area and believes this was the same one. He said he also believes it's the same bear that has been reportedly getting into trash in the area over the past few years. Past attempts to haze or trap it to relocate it elsewhere have been unsuccessful.Wildlife officers are working in the area. A search for the bear is underway with the help of tracking dogs.Because DNA evidence was collected in the home, wildlife officers will be able to test the DNA of a suspected bear to ensure it's the same one.Once they find the bear, it will be euthanized due to its history of run-ins with humans and this attack, Hampston said.He said while it's not rare to see a bear around Aspen, it is uncommon for one to get inside a home.This marks the first bear attack in Aspen this year.Three people reported a bear attack in Aspen last summer, he said.
