LEXINGTON, Ky. — A car wash in Lexington, Kentucky is offering a wash, a shine, and a scare this Halloween season.Rainstorm Car Wash has transformed its facility into the ‘Tunnel of Terror,’ a family friendly event that will be held every Friday and Saturday night until Halloween.“With all the COVID stuff, a lot of haunted houses weren't open or anything like that,” said Reese Kemp, the manager of Rainstorm's Lexington location. “So we figured let's have a great time.”When Gov. Andy Beshear unveiled his plan for a safe Halloween, he urged people to avoid haunted houses, citing the likelihood that COVID-19 could spread in such tight quarters. Those concerns don’t really apply to a haunted car wash."When you're in your car, you don't have to worry about getting within six feet,” Kemp notes. “Your windows are up the entire time, the [employees] can have a blast and you don't have to worry about coming into contact or spreading or anything like that.”While your car is getting washed, people will notice employees dressed up as scary characters, trailing the cars to give families a fright. As part of the event, Rainstorm has partnered with local food banks. Drivers who bring a canned food item will receive five dollars off their wash. This story originally reported by Mike Valente on LEX18.com. 1315

LAS VEGAS — Neighbors in the southwest part of Las Vegas are fed up over the wild scenes playing out in their area which have included flame throwers, rocket launchers, strippers and buses full of people as the Strip's night and day clubs remain closed. For weeks, Las Vegas police have been dealing with a sharp rise in complaints regarding "party houses," some of which have been the scenes for shootings and murders.Neighbors near one home on Sunset Road and Jones Boulevard say they are living next to a nightmare."It's a party going madhouse out here," Tony Grant said.Grant and his wife Nanette, who is battling breast cancer, say the for past six months, people have been arriving to their neighborhood by bus, car and rideshares.Videos shows dozens, if not hundreds, of people at the home, which at times includes laser light shows, loud music and nearly-naked women.Online, the venue is billed as a day and nightclub available for gatherings and parties for ,500 a day."There's fire-based entertainment, including flamethrowers, and rocket launchers that are being set off within obviously 10- to 15-feet of 50-foot pine trees and homes," Hadas Grant said.Online records show Las Vegas police have taken more than a half dozen reports for "disturbing the peace" in the 5800 block of Patrick Lane since April 2020.Records obtained by Clark County show authorities have placed administrative actions on the home, and fines have totaled 0.The Grants say the gatherings have continued."On the day the citation was placed on the door, that Tuesday night was one of the largest gatherings or events that they've ever had, they're laughing in the face of code enforcement," Tony Grant said.Interview requests to the group promoting the gatherings were not returned. But the home and the California-based owner are all over the county's radar with an active investigation, according to authorities."The girls that we see walking in and out, a lot of them are dressed in a G string and a top," Nanette Grant said. The Grants are fed up and fear it may only be a matter of time before one of the parties get really out of control, and someone gets hurt.Las Vegas police recently announced that at least 15 shootings and three other homicides at short-term rentals have occurred during recent months. This story was originally published by Joe Bartels on KTNV in Las Vegas. 2381

LA MESA, Calif (KGTV) - According to the California Department of Public Health, seven deficiencies were issued after an investigation of Sharp Grossmont Hospital. In April state investigators conducted a survey consisting of 14 closed medical records. According to the investigator's findings documented in a statement of deficiencies and plan of correction report, "Hospital leadership did not provide notification of a potential investigation and the use of video recording during medical treatment without patient's consent." Investigators also noted deficiencies with regulations related to medical staff accountability, patient's rights, and use of restraint or seclusion. According to the state document, "The patient has the right to personal privacy. This Statute is not met as evidenced by: Based on interview and record review, the hospital failed to ensure the privacy of all patients undergoing medical treatment in the WHC (women's health center) ORs (operating rooms) when the hospital's Admission Agreement for Inpatient and Outpatient Services was utilized as consent to allow video recording during medical treatment. Also, the Admission Agreement did not allow the patients' the option to acknowledge and/or decline video recording. As a result, the hospital leadership allowed video recording of patients undergoing medical treatment without knowledge or consent." The deficiencies listed fall under violations to conditions of participation for a hospital as listed in title 42 of the federal code of regulations.   A deficiency is a violation of a federal or state law or regulation that the California Department of Public Health cites during a survey or investigation.Officials with the California Department of Public Health tell 10News issuing deficiencies is a form of enforcement action. It requires the facility to submit a Plans of Correction to fix any violations. According to Sharp officials, in 2012 they were alerted that beginning in 2011, potentially powerful drugs and equipment were missing from the anesthesia cart in each of Sharp Grossmont Hospital's three Women's Center operating rooms. The hospital installed a computer monitor with a motion-activated camera in each of the three Women's Center operating rooms. Between July 2012 and June 2013, the videos were recorded. The hospital says the cameras were intended to record only individuals in front of the anesthesia carts. In a statement to 10News, a spokesperson for Sharp wrote:"In their survey, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) identified areas where opportunities for improvement existed. The hospital addressed each area of concern and created a plan of correction for those findings. Both CDPH and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) accepted Sharp Grossmont’s plan of correction, as confirmed in a follow-up survey. The hospital’s plan of correction provides that:The specific techniques used in the 2012-13 investigation have not been used since and will not be used for any future investigations.Any potential future investigations are required to strictly adhere to Sharp’s policies and procedures;Medical staff will be kept informed of any similar future investigations that may occur;Patients will receive full disclosure of any future investigations that may affect their privacy; The patient grievance practices have been strengthened to ensure patient complaints and grievances are appropriately and efficiently managed; andAdditional measures are in place to safeguard against the inadvertent release of patient information to third parties. Staff and clinicians have been educated on the hospital’s plan of correction and policies. While we are pleased that CDPH and CMS accepted our plan of correction, we regret that the investigation inadvertently recorded patients and may have caused distress to those we serve."More than 400 women who claim they were secretly recorded are suing the hospital.Court records show a hearing is scheduled in September. 4026

I hope it’s encouraging to other people.”The Burke, Virginia native, who graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2017, received her Wings of Gold with 25 classmates during a small ceremony at Naval Air Station in Kingsville, Texas, the Navy said.“Lt. j.g. Swegle has proven to be a courageous trailblazer,” Commander, Naval Air Forces Vice Adm. DeWolfe “Bullet” Miller III said in the statement. “She has joined a select group of people who earned Wings of Gold and answered the call to defend our nation from the air. The diversity of that group—with differences in background, skill, and thought—makes us a stronger fighting force.” 1038

LAKEWOOD, Colo. – Cereal lovers may want to take a good look at the expiration dates on their groceries after this story.A Lakewood, Colorado family bought a box of Quaker 100% Natural Granola cereal from a Littleton Walmart on Monday. It was the Quaker cereal with oats, honey and raisins. It wasn’t until the Carelse’s sat down for a serving that any of them realized something was terribly wrong.“It looks like February 22, 1997,” Anthea Carelse said, pointing to the box’s printed “best by” date. The box appears to date back 21 years.TRENDING: Florida Senate OKs bill for year-round Daylight Saving Time“I had about two bites, and that was it,” she continued. Her husband, Josiah Carelse ate a full bowl.“I just started eating and thinking, 'it just tastes funny. It must be OK,'” he said.Of course, Anthea told him, “I was like, ‘Josiah, you’re going to be really sick.’”Fortunately, he said he's feeling fine and has plans to return the expired box back to Walmart. To put this into perspective here’s a very short list of what life was like back in 1997: 1082
