The Clark County coroner ruled that Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul's death in June was due to natural causes. Paul, whose legal name was Vincent Paul Abbott, died of dilated cardiomyopathy, a condition where the heart becomes enlarged and cannot pump blood effectively. Severe coronary artery disease was identified as a significant condition to the cause of death. Paul died at his Las Vegas residence on June 22. The four former police officers who were involved in an arrest that led to the death of George Floyd will asked a judge Friday that their cases be tried separately.In a hearing scheduled on Friday local time in Minneapolis, attorneys for Derek Chauvin, J. Alexander Kueng, Thomas Lane and Tou Thao asked Judge Peter Cahill that it will be "impossible" to evaluate each individuals' actions "in a vacuum," according to the Associated Press.According to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, prosecutors opposed the requests, noting that witnesses and Floyd's family members are likely to be "traumatized" by multiple trials. They also argued that the "interests of justice" necessitate a single trial."Here, all four Defendants worked together to murder Floyd: Chauvin, Kueng, and Lane pinned Floyd face-down, while Thao stopped the crowd from intervening, enabling the other Defendants to maintain their positions. Defendants also discussed and coordinated their actions throughout the incident," prosecutors wrote in a court filing, according to The Associated Press.The Associated Press also reports that the request by the defendants indicates that the officers will seek to blame each other for Floyd's death. Attorneys for Lane and Kueng have already claimed that because their clients were rookies at the time, they were following the lead of Chauvin.The Star-Tribune also reports that the officers' attorneys sought a change of venue for the trial. Among their concerns about holding the trial in Minneapolis is a "tainted" jury pool.Judge Cahill took all of the defense's requests under advisement, according to ABC News. He did grant their request that four attorneys for the prosecution be dismissed from the case.Cahill said Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman and the three other attorneys should be dismissed from the case because they discussed autopsy results with the medical examiner, according to ABC.Defense attorneys have also filed a motion to dismiss the case, but the Star-Tribune reports that the judge is unlikely to discuss that motion Friday.Chauvin has been charged with second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. The other three officers are charged with aiding and abetting murder and manslaughter.A trial date has been set for March 2021.Floyd died as officers attempted to arrest him for allegedly using counterfeit bills to buy tobacco on Memorial Day weekend. Bystander video showed Chavin kneeling on Floyd's neck for more than eight minutes as Floyd cried for help. The Federal Bureau of Investigation has asked the public’s help in identifying members of a female gang who have been spotted in Middle Tennessee.  The FBI said Felony Lane Gang members use rental cars with tinted windows to watch you and your car in parking lots at gyms, daycares or anywhere someone might leave a purse in a car.They have been spotted in Nashville, Mt. Juliet, Gallatin and several other towns around the Metro area.When they see an opportunity, they'll swipe IDs, credit cards and checkbooks. Then, they hand all of that over to prostitutes and drug users they recruit to impersonate victims.Those women take stolen checks and IDs to multiple banks to withdraw large amounts of money -- all before the victims have a chance to close their accounts.According to authorities, they use the farthest window from the teller in bank drive-thru lanes. This drive-thru lane is commonly known as the "felony lane," which is what inspired their nickname.Investigators said they’re known to use wigs and other disguises to impersonate their victims at banks. The Food and Drug Administration’s Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee has endorsed Pfizer’s coronavirus vaccine, in a major step toward an epic vaccination campaign that could finally conquer the outbreak. The group, in a 17-4 vote with one abstention, concluded that the shot appears safe and effective against the coronavirus in people 16 and older.The Food and Drug Administration is expected to follow the recommendation issued Thursday by its expert advisers. A final FDA decision is expected within days. The vaccine had already been authorization by officials in Canada and the UK.An emergency use authorization allows practitioners to administer a vaccine despite it not gaining full FDA approval. The EUA means that the vaccine is allowed to be used in non-clinical settings, which would allow Americans not in a trial or hospital setting to get the vaccine.Millions of shots would then ship to begin vaccinating health care workers and nursing home residents, but the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will need to formally recommend the vaccine before health care officials can begin distributing the shots.Once it is authorized, it is expected that several million doses of the vaccine will immediately begin being distributed throughout the US to high-risk individuals. The first group of those expected to be inoculated includes health care workers and those who live or work in assisted living facilities.“The FDA recognizes that transparency and dialogue are critical for the public to have confidence in COVID-19 vaccines. Both the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines are required to be refrigerated until use, complicating distribution methods.Also, polls are showing that a significant number of Americans are hesitant to take the vaccine. Public health experts say getting the vast majority of Americans immunized is important in order to reach herd immunity against the virus and to allow for normalcy to return to the US.In addition to a number of public health experts saying they’ll get the vaccine as a way to instill trust, former Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. The Food and Drug Administration has approved remdesivir as a treatment for the coronavirus.The move comes less than a week after the World Health Organization published results of a large study that suggested remdesivir did not help hospitalized COVID-19 patients.A previous study by the U.S. National Institutes of Health found the antiviral drug shortened recovery time by five days, on average. That led to the drug getting emergency use approval in the U.S, as well as many other countries.The FDA’s decision on Thursday formally approves remdesivir as a treatment option, and makes it the first fully-approved treatment in the U.S.None of the studies have found the drug can improve survival rates.Remdesivir is one of the treatments President Donald Trump received when he contracted COVID-19 earlier this month. It is usually given over five days and works by helping to stop the replication of COVID-19 in the body. 932
