Adalja, a senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security. “However, if a person can only get a vaccine in September or maybe after October, it is important just to get it whenever they can.”Likewise, the CDC’s official guidance says that flu vaccines are recommended by the end of October. The agency says that getting a vaccine in July or August “is likely to be associated with reduced protection against flu infection later in the flu season, particularly among older adults.” The CDC agrees, however, that there is benefit in getting a vaccine as late as January for those who fail to obtain one before the start of the season.Where to get a vaccine?While many doctor’s offices offer flu vaccines, perhaps the easiest place for most Americans is while they’re shopping.Major retail chains such as Target, CVS and Kroger offer vaccines.At CVS and Target, customers can book a vaccination appointment by texting “FLU” to 287898. Target and CVS also accepts walk-in appointments. CVS, which also operates pharmacies at Target stores, says that vaccines are generally free with most insurance providers. The cost for those without coverage ranges from .99 to .CVS said it expects to administer 18 million vaccines to Americans this flu season. CVS also said that it is taking proper precautions to administer the vaccine to customers amid the coronavirus pandemic.“We have reduced the number of touchpoints in the process and implemented new guidelines in accordance with the CDC,” a CVS spokesperson said in a statement. “For example, patients will be given a COVID-19 screening questionnaire and have their temperature taken prior to any immunization. They must also wear a face covering or mask (one will be provided, if needed). The pharmacist or MinuteClinic provider administering the immunization will also use personal protection equipment (PPE), including plastic face shields and will utilize enhanced cleaning protocols between patients.”Kroger said it is also accepting appointments for flu vaccines. For those not wanting to go into a store, Kroger is offering drive thru vaccines, akin to the drive thru coronavirus testing sites. Also at Kroger, flu vaccines are generally free with most insurance providers."With so many health facilities already overburdened due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is more important than ever for all Americans to get a flu shot," said Colleen Lindholz, president of Kroger Health. "At our COVID-19 drive-thru test sites, we were able to assist thousands of people in getting a test in a short amount of time. By using that model to provide flu shots, we hope to provide more customers with a safe, convenient option to get vaccinated."Who should get a vaccine?Vaccines are recommended for most Americans over the age of 6 months. An Ohio couple was stunned to find a Nazi symbol on a pizza they picked up from Little Caesars Pizza Saturday night.Jason Laska was running an errand for his wife and picked up a pizza from the Little Caesars in Brook Park.“I walked in. I said, ‘What do you guys have left?’ And they said a pepperoni and a cheese and I said ‘give me the pepperoni,’” Laska said.He told WEWS he paid for the grab-and-go pizza but didn’t look inside the box until he got home, but his wife said she was disgusted to find pepperonis carefully arranged in the shape of a backward swastika. An Alabama woman says the temporary teeth that she wore with her zombie Halloween costume almost turned into permanent teeth.Anna Tew of Mobile County, Alabama told WKRG-TV she was forced to schedule an emergency dentist appointment after the "Devil Teeth" she wore with her costume wouldn't come out after nearly a day.Tew said she bought the fake teeth at Walmart to wear with a zombie costume as part of a haunted house at a local school. The teeth came with an adhesive that she applied before putting them in her mouth.But soon after leaving the haunted house, Tew realized the teeth wouldn't budge. On top of that, the teeth were extremely painful, meaning she couldn't eat or drink.At one point, Tew thought that drinking hot coffee would loosen the adhesive, but she told the Ledger-Enquirer that she ended up "drooling" the drink. 850

An employee at an Arizona pizza restaurant may lose his eye after being attacked by a woman with a stiletto. Scottsdale Police report that on Fbe. 19 they were called to Gus' Pizza.Witnesses reportedly told police that 32-year-old Kris May Loring fell out of her chair and onto the floor. She left the restaurant thinking other customers were laughing at her. Police say a few minutes later her boyfriend entered the business, yelled at the customers and allegedly threw pizza at them. While Aaron Walter, a security guard for Gus' Pizza Lounge, attempted to detain the man, police say Loring, "took off her stilettos and charged at the victim." She delivered, "deliberate and violent blows towards the victim's head." “I was kind of holding the back of her boyfriend’s neck, just kind of holding him down while he’s blowing off some steam, and next thing you know, I was hit in the eye,” said Walter. Police say one of the stilettos struck Walter in the eye causing a severe laceration. Walter was hospitalized for several days, and his vision has returned since the attack. “I'm glad it was a stiletto.. I'm glad it wasn’t a knife or a gun,” said Walter. Upon her arrest, Loring allegedly threatened to "bite the nose off the arresting officer." She is facing multiple charges including aggravated assault.Despite what happened, Walter says he holds no ill will towards Loring.“I want her to have a wonderful life, I want her kids to prosper, I want her husband to prosper, and I want everyone to just live."  1579
