Presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke reiterated his support for a mandatory gun-buyback program of assault-style rifles on Thursday and said, "Hell, yes, we're going to take your AR-15, your AK-47.""We're not going to allow it to be used against our fellow Americans anymore," the former Texas congressman said during the third Democratic presidential debate, hosted by ABC News."If the high-impact, high-velocity round, when it hits your body, shreds everything inside of your body because it was designed to do that so that you would bleed to death on a battlefield ... when we see that being used against children," O'Rourke said. He recalled talking to a woman in Odessa, Texas, who had watched her 15-year-old daughter bleed to death after she was shot by a man wielding an AR-15 late last month.O'Rourke's comments come in the wake of a string of mass shootings in the United States, including in his hometown of El Paso, where 22 people were gunned down at a Walmart in August. O'Rourke unveiled a proposal weeks after that shooting calling for a national gun registry, a nationwide gun licensing system and the mandatory buyback of assault-style rifles as part of his plan to curb gun violence and the rise of white nationalism. He received praise from his fellow Democratic contenders on Thursday night for his actions following the shooting in El Paso."The way he handled what happened in his hometown -- to look in the eyes," former Vice President Joe Biden said.Fellow Texan Julián Castro praised O'Rourke for "how well he has spoken to the passion and the frustration and the sadness" after the shooting."And Beto, God love you for standing in the middle of that tragedy," said Sen. Kamala Harris of California.Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota said, "I so appreciate what the congressman's been doing."Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey needled O'Rourke later, saying he was sorry it had taken the El Paso shooting for O'Rourke to embrace the position Booker already held, backing a mandatory buyback and national registration.O'Rourke's support for gun licensing is a reversal from May, when he was asked about a similar proposal from Booker and said it "may be too far." 2191

SAVANNAH, Ga. – A Georgia reporter was groped on live television while reporting on a running event on Saturday. At the time of the incident, Alexandrea Bozarjian was covering the annual Enmarket Savannah Bridge Run, during which runners make their way across the Talmadge Bridge. In a video posted to social media, several runners are seen posturing for the camera, some getting so close that Bozarjian looked visually uncomfortable. One man ended up taking things too far, smacking the reporter’s backside while jogging past her. Immediately afterwards, Bozarjian appears to take a minute to collect herself and then continues her report. Later on Twitter, Bozarjian called out the groper, saying “To the man who smacked my butt on live TV this morning: You violated, objectified, and embarrassed me. No woman should EVER have to put up with this at work or anywhere!! Do better.”To the man who smacked my butt on live TV this morning: You violated, objectified, and embarrassed me. Several soon-to-be-married Valley couples say they're worried they've lost the thousands of dollars they invested on their wedding venue.NOAH's Event Center in Chandler, Arizona, sent an email to couples who booked the venue off Cooper and the Loop 202 saying they were canceling their highly anticipated events. “I had to re-read it again honestly. I was like, 'What? Is this real?'" said Melanie Stephenson, whose wedding was set for March of 2020. “I just mailed out my invites in November, so I had to re-message everyone like, 'Sorry wedding is postponed until I don’t even know when.'"Stephenson says she paid off the cost of the venue last December forking over ,000 to rent the entire building for the night and for NOAH to provide bartenders for her big day.“It just really sucks," she added. "This is like a hit in the face pretty much for all of us." Stephenson says NOAH's story doesn't add up. “I made sure to choose a company that I thought was solid because they have 30 other buildings throughout the United States," she said. Court records show NOAH 1082

Students from high schools around the country have been working to compete in a national engineering challenge, and it’s all focused around helping people with disabilities. STEM students from 50 high schools across America entered the SourceAmerica Design Challenge, where participants create innovative technology to help people with disabilities in the workplace. That's A Wrap deli in North Potomac, Maryland is known for employing people with disabilities. That's why these STEM students from Poolsville High School picked this place for their school project. The group is one of the five finalist teams for the national engineering competition. Learning all the back-end technology on their own, the students invented an iPad application called "Recipe Easy," which aims to help people with disabilities work more efficiently. The students took all of the recipes from That’s A Wrap and shot videos on how to make the food, before uploading them to the app. Step by step, each recipe is show in an animation and text. It’s also hands-free. "When you hold up a spatula, the camera will detect it and it will move to the next step of a recipe, so Steven has that as a guide for him," says junior Anjali Murthy on the help it provides one of the workers at the deli, Steven.Charissa Garcia with SourceAmerica says the students from the five finalist schools will present their devices on stage for a panel of judges. "They come together. They build a project to really focus on independence, empowerment, increased wages and increased employment opportunities for people with disabilities," Garcia explains of the program. Although these students from Poolsville High School want to take the trophy home, they say they already feel good about making an impact.
