It's unclear exactly how many satellites will ultimately be included in the constellation. SpaceX founder Elon Musk has said previously that the service could begin operating when it reaches 1,000 satellites, and the company has already begun soliciting people to be "beta" testers. But the more satellites that are deployed will mean more comprehensive internet coverage.In addition to the 57 Starlink satellites, the SpaceX rocket will also carry a pair of satellites for Spaceflight Industries on behalf of Earth- observation company BlackSky.BlackSky is in the process of building its satellite array, with four already in orbit. The launch will increase the array to six, and the company has an initial goal of launching 16 by early next year. The array could ultimately have as many as 60 satellites, but timing on that expansion hasn't been determined.When the launch occurs, SpaceX will again attempt to recover the first stage of the Falcon 9 rocket by landing it on the company's "Of Course I Still Love You" barge in the Atlantic Ocean. GOLETA, Calif. (KGTV) - A rare sea creature that’s not supposed to live in the Northern Hemisphere surprised scientists by washing ashore in Goleta last week. The Mola tecta, more commonly known as the hoodwinker sunfish, is a rare species first identified in 2017, according to experts at University of California, Santa Barbara. UCSB reported the fish at Sands Beach in the university's Coal Oil Point Natural Reserve, the Associated Press reported. An intern alerted a reserve staffer who initially thought it was a type of local sunfish. “This is certainly the most remarkable organism I have seen wash up on the beach in my four years at the reserve,” said Jessica Nielsen, a conservation specialist at Coal Oil Point on the UCSB website. “It really was exciting to collect the photos and samples knowing that it could potentially be such an extraordinary sighting.” Scientists have not yet determine how the fish died. 932

Half of the coral populations in the Great Barrier Reef off Australia’s coast have been killed off because of warming ocean waters, a new study says.Between 25-30 percent of all marine species rely on coral reefs at some point in their life cycle. The Great Barrier Reef is the world’s largest coral reef, covering nearly 133,000 square miles.It has more than 411 species of hard corals documented, as well as 1,500 species of fish and other animals.Researchers looking at coral populations over 30 years starting in 1995 found there was decline in both shallow and deeper water, and across different species. They said two in particular, branching and table-shaped corals, were especially hard hit in 2016 and 2017 because of record-breaking temperatures.The study finds climate change to be a key driver in reef disturbances that disrupt recovery.“The potential for recovery of older fecund corals is uncertain given the increasing frequency and intensity of disturbance events. The systematic decline in smaller colonies across regions, habitats and taxa, suggests that a decline in recruitment has further eroded the recovery potential and resilience of coral populations,” the researchers note.They also say the coral that spawn the larvae that makes more coral have declined dramatically over large stretches of the reef.“Corals are tremendously resilient because of their capacity to produce millions of babies but they/we desperately need a break from disturbances,” Andreas Dietzel, a professor at the ARC Center and a co-author of the paper, said in an email to the Washington Post. 1600

But the Island of Hawaii is made up of 5 volcanoes, and only Kilauea is erupting.Even if there were to be a change in activity at Kilauea, it would not impact Hilo or Kailua-Kona (the largest towns on the island), which are located on different volcanoes.
