OKLAHOMA CITY -- An Edmond, Oklahoma teacher is offering free rides to teachers trying to get to the Capitol for the walkout."I couldn’t tell you how many people have been in this car," Troy Frieling said. "I have no idea. I’ve had children, administrators, support staff, just teachers in general."For the last eight days, Troy Frieling has shuttled people to and from the Capitol from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. He picks them up at their cars parked in neighborhoods a few miles away and drops them off just a few steps from the rally.Frieling is a teacher himself and so is his wife."Honestly I wanted to be able to serve the teachers," Frieling said. "I just didn’t feel like my time standing in line up there was going to help anything."He said he has picked up some of the same people day after day.A ride in Frieling's truck is completely free."They’ve asked me, 'Do you want donations?' and I’m like, 'No, it wouldn’t be a free ride if you gave me donations,'" he saidHe said he has found a few dollars left behind in his truck. The only thing he asks of his passengers is they sign a poster in his car. He's already filled up one poster and has hundreds on his second poster."It took five minutes off our day, but it’s also refreshing after such a long week and a half to continue to see the community being helpful and supportive," Randi Mahoney, a teacher at Ralph Downs in Ponca City, said.At the end of the day, Frieling brings them back to their cars.  1494

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV)- The freeway is back open in Oceanside after a big rig crash caused a major mess. It happened just after 10:30 a.m. on the southbound I-5 just north of Harbor Drive near Camp Pendleton. According to the CHP, the driver of a flatbed pulled off to the shoulder to check the equipment he was carrying. The driver of a big-rig hauling an excavator passed by and clipped the rear tire of the truck that was parked. The driver of the semi lost control, went down the embankment, hit a tree and flipped over. Remarkably, the driver is expected to be OK. "Very fortunate, judging the distance and the weight that we're looking at in these vehicles and the condition that the big rig is in that he sustained only minor injuries, " said CHP Officer Mark Latulippe. The big rig also caught on fire, but drivers stopped to help. "After the big rig had come to a stop on its side, a small fire had broken out. Some witnesses and passer-bys that had seen the crash actually stopped and put out the fire with some fire extinguishers," said Officer Latulippe. Clearing the wreckage was a long and complicated process."It's kind of a mess. There's a lot of pieces. It's entangled within a tree. The excavator is off the trailer, mostly off the trailer, the big rig truck tractor's portion of that is coming apart in pieces as we are trying to get it up," described Officer Latulippe. The number three and four lanes on the five south north of Harbor were shut down until around 530 pm. Traffic was backed up for miles. 1540

Opioids are a big problem around the country, which has led to legislators looking for new ways to fund rehabilitation.New York has enacted the Opioid Stewardship Act, a bill to tax opioids. It would collect 0 million a year for six years. The opioid industry calls the law a "punitive surcharge" on distributors and manufacturers, and lawsuits they've filed call it unconstitutional.Opponents also say the act will ultimately hurt consumers, because generic opioids have such low profit margins, so critics fear they will be forced out of the market.California, Idaho and Tennessee have all tried and failed to pass similar laws. Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and New Jersey are waiting to see what happens in New York before they move forward with their own legislation. 780
