(KGTV) - Dramatic video shows how a plane crash and rescue of the pilot and passenger unfolded off the coast of Northern California. David Lesh purchased his Beechcraft Bonanza a few weeks ago and asked a fellow pilot to record aerial video from a second plane. “We were gonna go fly over the Golden Gate bridge, and do a whole bay tour... obviously didn't make it there,” Lesh said. During the flight, Lesh lost all power five miles off Half Moon Bay Harbor. “I would guess that we probably didn't have much more than maybe a minute or two from the time I figured something was wrong to the time we hit the water,” said Lesh. Lesh’s friend Owen Leipelt was piloting the second plane and watched as Lesh went down. “At one point I lost them. I had been circling and I couldn't see them anymore and David called me on the phone as he was bobbing in the water and he turned me around and he guided me right to where he was,” said Leipelt. Commander Joshua Murphy. (KGTV) - Disney fans will be able to get their fill of toys, games, accessories, clothing, and other merchandise this fall at 25 Target stores nationwide. The entertainment giant is opening what it describes as “shop-in-shop” locations starting in October, according to Target officials. Disney’s store experience in Target will include music, interactive displays, photo ops, and a Disney movie clip screening area. 450 items will be available, including 100 products that were previously only available at Disney retail locations, Target officials say. (KGTV) - A San Diego oceanographer helped solve the 74-year-old mystery of a missing World War II B-24 Bomber that disappeared in the Pacific Ocean.The crew of the plane “Heaven Can Wait” was on a mission to bomb Japanese anti-aircraft batteries in March 1944 when it was shot down by enemy fire.For decades, the plane’s location and the remains of the 11 troops on board were unknown. Project Recover, which finds the underwater resting places of fallen Americans, worked with family members who wanted closure for their lost relative.Eric Terrill of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at University of California, San Diego, led the team of marine scientists, archaeologists, and volunteers. They started the project in October 2017.The group used scanning sonars, high-definition imagers, advanced diving, and unmanned aerial and underwater robotic technologies. They also tracked data including historical eyewitness narratives from official military reports, mission documents, and diary entries from crew members on other aircraft in formation with the B-24 during its flight.The search for “Heaven Can Wait” covered nearly 27 square kilometers of sea floor. 11 days after the search started, the group found the wreckage under 213 feet of water on the north shore of Hansa Bay, off Papua New Guinea. "This is an important step toward our ultimate goal of identifying and returning home the crew of 'Heaven Can Wait' who bravely served our country during the battle at Hansa Bay," said Dan Friedkin, team member of Project Recover and chairman and CEO of The Friedkin Group. (KGTV) - A Pennsylvania groom is accused of sexually assaulting one of his wife’s bridesmaids days before his wedding, which occurred as scheduled. Daniel Carney, 28, is charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse of an unconscious person and indecent assault at the Smithfield resort Aug. 30. Police said the assault reportedly happened after Carney and the bridesmaid were drinking alcohol. The bridesmaid told officers she blacked out, and when she regained consciousness her clothes were removed and Carney was fondling her. Surveillance video shows Carney pulling the woman into the men’s locker room, police said. According to police, the assault stopped when the bride caught him, but the wedding went on as planned Sept. 1. Court documents show investigators listened in on a call between Carney and his accuser, KABC reported. They say during the call, he repeatedly told her he was sorry, specifically saying it was his fault several times. Associated Press contributed to this article. 1012
