(KGTV) — In San Diego, dog owners will be hard-pressed to find a spot that isn't dog-friendly.It's no wonder why San Diego was recently ranked one of the most pet-friendly cities in the country, with one of the most pet-friendly restaurants per capita, according to the study.While many allow dogs on patios or even inside, some places go above with their own menu for dogs and water bowl aplenty.RELATED: San Diego among the most pet-friendly cities in the U.S.Here are some of those places around town San Diegans love to take their fidos out to eat and drink with them.RESTAURANTSThe Patio on Lamont (4445 Lamont St., San Diego): The Patio is known to local dog owners as one of the most pet-friendly places around. Staff members have no problem getting dogs water and biscuits and the restaurant claimed San Diego Magazine's 2017 "best pet-friendly" restaurant title.Queenstown Public House (1557 Columbia St., San Diego): Queenstown Public House has space outside on the front porch, front yard, and back patio for doggos to relax while their owners eat. The restaurant even hosts special dog-themed events on occasion.Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar (1202 Camino Del Rio N., San Diego): The lazy dog is the place for dogs (whether lay or not.) (KGTV) — Businesses closed in preparation for Disneyland's plans for a 700-room hotel now face an uncertain future.A handful of Downtown Disney businesses closed as part of Disneyland's plans for the luxury hotel that would have been built in the district's west end.AMC 12 Theatres, Rainforest Cafe, ESPN Zone, Earl of Sandwich, Alamo Rent-a-Car, and the west-end Starbucks were all closed to make room for the hotel.RELATED: Disneyland pulls plug on luxury hotel, citing loss of tax breaksA Disney spokesperson told 10News that Earl of Sandwich had reopened as of Oct. 1.Despite this, the future of the businesses is uncertain, the spokesperson noted, "Downtown Disney continually changes and new and exciting things are always happening. With this recent change, our team is working with the Imagineers on several different exciting options for the West end of the district."They did not say whether those businesses would reopen with the hotel project canceled.Renderings of Disneyland's proposed luxury hotelThe Anaheim City Council voted to cancel tax-incentive for the project in August, citing changes to the project, including a new location. (CNN) -- Mexican security forces engaged in a prolonged shootout with heavily armed suspected cartel members in Sinaloa state Thursday, in an operation that ensnared a son of imprisoned drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman.Mexican federal troops had initially detained Ovidio Guzman Lopez, 28, in the northern city of Culiacan, in what Mexico's State Security Secretary Cristoban Castanillo called a "federally-coordinated operation."But Security Minister Alfonso Durazo has told Reuters that he was later released, saying the decision was taken to protect lives.Suspected members of the powerful Sinaloa drug cartel appeared to overpower the security forces during the shootout, who later suspended operations.According to CNN affiliate ADN40, armored vehicles with military-grade machinery exchanged heavy artillery against federal troops in Culiacan, in the heart of Sinaloa.The shootout forced many residents to flee in panic, others remained locked in their homes while outside, troops engaged in intense gun battles throughout the day. Residents have been asked to stay inside and schools have been closed until further notice, officials said, according to ADN40.Images on social media appeared to show the terror unleashed on the inhabitants of Culiacan. Plumes of black smoke billowed on the horizon while on the ground, mothers coddled their children while searching for cover behind parked cars.Late Thursday Durazo said government operations in Culiacan had been suspended following a violent back and forth between federal entities and criminal groups.Durazo said that law enforcement officers and members of the Mexican National Guard were conducting a routine patrol when they were attacked by people inside a home in the city at around 3:30 p.m. local time (4:30 p.m. ET).The patrol unit fought back and took control of the house, finding four occupants inside. Authorities identified one of the occupants as Ovidio Guzman Lopez.During the confrontation, other members of an organized criminal group arrived on scene, with more firepower than authorities. Violent attacks also erupted in different parts of the city creating "a situation of panic," Durazo said.With the "purpose of safeguarding the security and tranquility of the Culiacan society, the officials of the Cabinet of Security agreed to suspend said actions."Who is Ovidio Guzman Lopez?Ovidio Guzman Lopez is the son of Guzman and his second wife, Griselda Lopez. He is believed to have a large role in the Sinaloa cartel, according to the US Treasury Department.In February, Ovidio Guzman Lopez was charged with conspiracy to distribute drugs to be imported into the US, along with his brother Joaquin Guzman Lopez, 34, by the US Department of Justice.Prosecutors said that from April 2008 through April 2018, the brothers conspired to distribute cocaine, marijuana and methamphetamine from Mexico and other places to be imported into the US.In July, their father -- the once-powerful leader of the Sinaloa cartel -- was sentenced to life in prison plus 30 years in the US.Guzman was convicted in February on 10 federal charges, including murder conspiracies, running a continuing criminal enterprise and other drug-related charges.He was considered the most "powerful drug trafficker in the world" by the Treasury Department and his criminal enterprise spanned continents and triggered bloodshed throughout his native Mexico.In 2015 he dramatically escaped from prison, riding on a motorcycle through a tunnel that had been dug to his cell at the Altiplano maximum security federal prison.Ray Donovan, the DEA special agent who spearheaded the 22-agency effort that led to Guzman's capture, told CNN in February that the Sinaloa cartel still supplies the vast majority of US drug markets."In fact, Chapo's sons are now risen through the ranks of the Sinaloa cartel and taken over Chapo's end of the organization," he said. 3909

(CNN) -- When a World War II veteran turned 99, he had one regret. He had an opportunity earlier in life to meet some of the last living Civil War veterans, but he didn't go.Now 100-year-old Sidney Walton is giving people across the country the chance to meet one of the last living World War II veterans.Walton has been on a mission to visit all 50 states over the past year and a half, and he passed the halfway mark earlier this month. He's made it to 26 states, meeting with governors and anyone who will hear his story.He wants people he meets to remember the sacrifice World War II veterans made, especially as there aren't many left. Fewer than 400,000 of the 16 million Americans who served in World War II are alive, according to US Department of Veterans Affairs statistics.RELATED: Thousands of service members return to San Diego for ThanksgivingIn April 2018, Walton started sharing his message. He decided to leave his home in San Diego and meet with governors of each state as a way to reach a large number of people.He first met with Rhode Island Gov. He calls it his "No Regrets Tour.""We're going to complete this tour," Paul Walton, Sidney Walton's 64-year-old son, told CNN. He believes in the message his father is sharing so much, that he gave up his job to travel with him.The journey isn't always easy. At 100 years old, the amount of traveling and planning can be difficult. Paul Walton said all their plans are made a month in advance at most.
