LONDON (AP) — St. Bernards are known for helping to rescue distressed travelers in the mountains, but on Sunday the tables were turned in northern England. Sixteen volunteers from the Wasdale mountain rescue team took turn carrying Daisy, a 121-pound (55 kilogram) St Bernard, from England’s highest peak, Scafell Pike. The mountain rescue team spent nearly five hours rescuing Daisy, who had collapsed while descending the mountain on Friday evening. Rescue workers say she was displaying signs of pain in her rear legs and was refusing to move. They administered some pain relief, adjusted their stretcher to be more dog-friendly and packed a few treats to help settle her down. Daisy is now recovering from her ordeal.With their sense of direction and resistance to cold, St. Bernards have been saving people in the mountains since the 18th century, according to the Smithsonian Magazine. 899

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The pilot of a helicopter that crashed into a Southern California hillside, killing Kobe Bryant and eight others, was reprimanded five years ago for flying without permission into airspace while he had reduced visibility. A Federal Aviation Administration enforcement record says Ara Zaboyan was counseled in 2015 after he strayed into Los Angeles International Airport space after being denied permission to cross because of reduced visibility. The FAA record says Zobayan admitted and took responsibility for the error. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities identified five additional victims Tuesday as divers searched for the last missing passenger who died in a fatal boat fire off the coast of California.As the families mourned, officials pursued a criminal investigation into the blaze that killed 34 people on Labor Day.Santa Barbara County Sheriff Bill Brown said the victims, 21 women and 13 men from 16 to 62 years old, appear to have died from smoke inhalation before they were burned. Five of six crew members, including the captain, survived after multiple efforts to rescue the dozens trapped below deck.Authorities said efforts to find the final victim and salvage the Conception are expected to continue Wednesday.The five additional victims, all from California, are Adrian Dahood-Fritz, 40, of Sacramento; Lisa Fiedler, 52, of Mill Valley; Kristina "Kristy" Finstad, 41, of Tamrick Pines; Fernisa Sison, 57, of Stockton, and Kristian Takvam, 34, of San Francisco.Finstad, a marine biologist who led the scuba tour, had led hundreds of dives in the Channel Islands. She had just returned from spending several years sailing across the Pacific with her husband.Fiedler, a Michigan native, was a hairdresser and photographer who thought of herself as "part fish" because of her ocean addiction.The other three victims identified Tuesday were on the boat with coworkers and loved ones.Sison's husband, Michael Quitasol, and her three stepdaughters also perished in the fire. LOS ANGELES (KGTV) -- A 5.3 magnitude earthquake shook the Los Angeles area Thursday afternoon. According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake struck about 35 miles southwest of Channel Island Beach. At this time there are no reports of damage or injuries. The National Weather Service added that there is no risk for tsunami. Shortly after the quake, the Los Angeles Fire Department went into earthquake mode. According to the department, during earthquake mode, firefighters from all 106 neighborhood fire stations survey all 470 square miles in the greater Los Angeles area. The department says crews are now inspecting dams, power-lines and large places such as Dodger Stadium to ensure public safety.  772
