LAKEWOOD, Ohio — When she heard Jimmy Adkins was running his own taxi service in Ohio she immediately warned her friends and family."We want people to know that he's out there," said a witness who did not want to be identified.That's because the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Department says Adkins is a registered sex offender. One that's been convicted twice, in his most recent crime involving a young relative."My niece was living with him and that's when he made the attempt to have sex with her," said the witness.Adkins is running a service called Lakewood Smart Taxi.He needs a license to run his service, but he doesn't have one. Just last month, he got arrested for transporting passengers without it.But even if he applied for that license, there's no way Adkins could get one."That's the thing, within the city's ordinance, they require that you have a clean record," said Derrick Russell, a consultant of Ace Taxi, a legitimate taxi company in Cleveland.Five years ago Russell fired Adkins because of his criminal record."I was shocked, I've done investigations for insurance companies for a number of years and major companies, I had not seen a record like that," said Russell.He says Lakewood Smart Taxi isn't the first of its kind."Anyone can put a magnet on the side of their car and call themselves a taxi because unfortunately, the regulations are really gray in that area, but the other thing is there is no enforcement," he said.The family of Adkins' victims is advising against getting in his car."Lord knows what he can do, and it's just not safe, it's not safe, you know what I mean there could be anything that could happen," said the unidentified witness.Adkins was contacted multiple times for comment but never called back. 1765

(KGTV) - A La Mesa woman is on the hunt for clues, after she made a startling discovery near a sidewalk during a walk.Along scenic Explorer Road, Patty Serrano was finishing up a walk with a friend one afternoon two Fridays ago, when something on the ground caught her eye."First of all shock. Why is this on the ground? I picked it up. Dried it and flattened it," said Serrano.The document was a Plank Owner Certificate. Serrano, a retired Navy officer, knew exactly what that meant. "I knew those are rare, issued to people who are the first crew members of a ship," said Serrano.The certificates aren't official Navy documents. They are created and distributed by crew members. The ship attached to this certificate was the U.S.S. Did it drop out during a move? Did a burglar leave it behind? However it happened, Serrano is determined to find its rightful owner."When you are on that ship, you earn that document. It had great importance to that person ... (KGTV) - The J Company is telling the story of America's founding fathers, with a twist.This spring, they're staging the classic musical 1776 with an all-female cast."We need to support our young women and let them know they can be anything and anybody they want to be if they just put their minds to it," says director Joey Landwehr, who came up with the idea of casting only young women in roles portraying men.The musical tells the story of John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin and the rest of the Continental Congress as they debated the merits of breaking free from England during the Revolutionary War. Some of the actors say they see the relevance to today's political climate in the story."Even though I know I'm pretty set on my political views, I do understand that other people have their own and that we need to find that middle ground," says Camille Le Saux, who will play Ben Franklin in the show. "That's what this play tends to focus on, and I think that's very relevant today."Others say it's empowering to see young women playing strong, influential men."It's showing that women can be powerful and women can be strong, and women can be angry and upset and passionate," says Caroline Egler. She's playing John Adams, a role she's wanted to tackle since she first learned of the show in 8th grade."Reading through the script again, I realized how beautiful it is and how human it is," Egler says.Rehearsals began this week at the Lawrence Family JCC in La Jolla.
