Police responded to the scene of a reported accidental death of a child after she was left in a hot vehicle in Nashville.According to Metro Nashville Police, a 1-year-old girl was found dead Wednesday after she'd been left in a car seat all day in a pickup truck.The truck was parked at the family's East Nashville home. Police said the adoptive father reportedly forgot about the child after dropping off her sibling at daycare.The adoptive mother found the girl in the vehicle Wednesday evening around 5:40. She was pronounced dead when she arrived to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.Police taped off the area of the home as they continued to investigate. 685

PARADISE, Calif. (KGTV) -- Pacific Gas and Electric could face murder or manslaughter charges if it were found responsible for starting the deadly Camp Fire, according to CNN. The company could face a range of criminal charges if any of the wildfires broke out as a result of improperly maintained power lines. Potential charges range from misdemeanors related to clearing vegetation around power lines to "homicide offenses like implied-malice murder and involuntary manslaughter."Attorney General Xavier Becerra has yet to come to a conclusion about the company’s responsibility in the recent fires. Our focus continues to be on assessing our infrastructure to further enhance safety and helping our customers continue to recover and rebuild.”The company reported an outage on a transmission line where the fire started 15 minutes before the flames began to tear through the forest. This year, Governor Jerry Brown signed a measure allowing utilities to bill their customers for legal settlements stemming from the 2017 wildfires. People across the U.S. are honoring loved ones who have passed from COVID-19 as part of a National Week of Mourning.Kristin Urquiza’s father, Mark, passed away from COVID-19 on June 30 in Arizona. She said in his obituary that "his death is due to the carelessness of the politicians who continue to jeopardize the health of brown bodies."Urquiza says her dad was one of her best friends and very generous guy. She’s speaking our with hopes of saving other people of color from the disease.“Seeing those disparities play out in my hometown, in my home neighborhood, and then having my dad go through this awful fight for his life and not be able to make it, I knew that I needed to speak my truth,” said Urquiza.Fiana Tulip's mother, Isabelle, was a respiratory therapist for 30 years. She was a year from retirement. Tulip says her mom continued to go into work even though she didn't have enough personal protective equipment and knew she was putting her life at risk. She passed away from COVID-19 on July 4 in Texas.Tulip says her mom was a “giant in her kindness,” as well as loving, giving, strong and resilient.“My mom was so brave, and I want her to be remembered as somebody who was thoughtful and who was generous and who was a hero, somebody who gave her life to save others,” said Tulip.She says in her mom's obituary "her undeserving death is due to the carelessness of politicians who undervalue health care workers."Mark and Isabelle are just two of the more than 210,000 lives lost to COVID-19 in the U.S.Tulip says if the country keeps ignoring the fact that people are dying, we’re going to have pretty traumatic effects later on.“So, it's important to feel and to share the warmth and to spread the love right now,” she said.“We are putting a stake in the ground to say we need to recognize, and recognition begins with collective mourning. PHOENIX (KNXV) - Imagine getting the greatest gift of your life and then suddenly having it ripped away. It's what the Gateway Academy in Phoenix is feeling right now. The K-12 school for high functioning students with autism just had an important gift taken away.It's an empty field right now but the plan was for Gateway Academy to remove all of the bushes and gravel to make room for a brand new adaptive playground. The cost of entire project would be picked up by a very generous donor."We thought we had found an angel who understood the population and who's ready to give generously," said Robin Sweet, the school's executive director. "Not so much."That donation, ,000. How much the school has seen of that money? Nothing."Before I signed the purchase order I called him again just to make sure," said Sweet.That donor backed out. Now the school is left with a massive bill, a playground that's sitting in storage on pallets and students who are disappointed."Guess what,  don't see anything out here," said Joseph, an eighth grader at Gateway.  "It's not just to have fun. It would really help us," said Joseph."It's instrumental in their well-being and mental and physical health and then to say, sorry - just kidding?" said Sweet.The school won't identify the donor but Sweet does have a message for the man.
