For the first time in the history of the long-running competition show "Survivor," a contestant was pulled from the series over an issue of conduct.Dan Spilo, a 48-year-old talent manager, was the first contestant asked to leave the game in the show's 39 seasons. At the end of Wednesday night's episode a title card on the screen read, "Dan was removed from the game after a report of another incident, which happened off-camera and did not involve a player."A rep for CBS declined to comment further.CNN has reached out to Spilo for comment.Spilo's behavior on the show had been a plot line this season. Kellee Kim, one of the others contestants on "Survivor" this season, had made it known that she was uncomfortable with the way in which he touched her and on day 22 of filming the show issued an official warning to Spilo.Kim took to Twitter following the dramatic episode and criticized how it was handled."CBS and Survivor were on notice of Dan's behavior from the very first days of the game. And, as Survivor fans know, shortly after I spoke up on camera, I was voted off the show. Since then, I've accepted genuine, heartfelt apologies from fellow castaways, but I've continued to feel disappointed by how this pattern of behavior was allowed to occur for so long."The show's longtime host, Jeff Probst spoke to 1333
Google is making it harder for political advertisers to target specific types of people. The company said that as of January, advertisers will only be able to target U.S. political ads based on broad categories such as gender, age and postal code. Currently, ads can be tailored for more specific groups — for instance, using information gleaned from public voter logs, such as political affiliation. The change will take effect in the UK in the next week, before the general election, and in the European Union before the end of 2019. It will apply everywhere else in early January.Google reiterated that ads making false claims are prohibited, adding that so-called deepfakes — realistic but false video clips — are not allowed. Neither are “demonstrably false” claims that could affect voter trust in an election. But in a 835

Gunfire erupted at a Connecticut nightclub early Sunday morning, killing a man and wounding four other people, police said.A 28-year-old man died in the shooting at the Majestic Lounge in Hartford’s South End, police Lt. Paul Cicero said. Two other males and two females were wounded, with two of them in surgery Sunday morning and two in stable condition, he said. None of their names were released.Police officers had been stationed outside the club because of previous problems there and reported the shooting at about 1:30 a.m. Officers rushed in, but were confronted with a large number of people running toward the exits, Cicero said.“Everybody started pushing their way out to get away from the gunfire,” he said. “It was kind of pandemonium.”Officers, however, were able to provide immediate medical care to the victims, he said. There were no suspects in custody. Officials said there was little information to release because the investigation was in the very early stages.A message seeking comment was left Sunday at a phone number for the club.Mayor Luke Bronin said Sunday that illegal handguns were involved in the shooting. He said there have been problems at the nightclub in the past, but nothing in recent weeks.City officials will be assessing what steps they can take to prevent violence at the club in the future, Bronin said.“Hartford Police Officers who were at the club responded immediately, running in the direction of gunfire, and their heroic efforts may have prevented further loss of life,” Bronin said in a statement.Streets around the club were closed for hours during the emergency response and investigation. Officials left the scene around 7 a.m.“We’re not going to have anything for quite a bit of time,′ Cicero said, responding to a question about when more information will be released. ”This is a very complex investigation.” 1875
