WASHINGTON, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) determined Monday that imports of drill pipe and drill collars from China threatened the U.S. industry with material injury.As a result of the USITC's affirmative threat determinations, the U.S. Commerce Department will issue anti-dumping and countervailing duty orders on imports of these products from China.On January 4, the U.S. Commerce Department announced its affirmative final determinations in the anti-dumping duty and countervailing duty investigations on imports of drill pipe from China. The department determined that Chinese producers and exporters had sold drill pipe in the United States at margins ranging between 0.00 and 69.32 percent, while they have received countervailable subsidies of 18.18 percent ad valorem.In the anti-dumping investigation, mandatory respondent China's DP Master Manufacturing Co., Ltd. and Jiangyin Liangda Drill Pipe Co., Ltd. received a dumping rate of 69.32 percent. Baoshan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. as well as Shanxi Yida Special Steel Imp. and Exp. Co., Ltd. each received a dumping rate of 0.00 percent, according to the department.The USITC did not specify the combined value of imported drill pipe and drill collars from China in the statement. A determination will be considered as affirmative if there is a 3-3 voting result within the USITC Commissioners.Drill pipe and drill collars are hollow drill string components used in drilling rigs, particularly those intended to extract oil and gas, to transmit power and conduct lubricant during the drilling process.

The annual fair began in 1969.The Chinese hall in the center covers an area of 1,400 square meters, with special areas allocated for a variety of exhibitions about the history of the evolution of Chinese characters, photos reflecting Sino-Egypt friendship and landscape of modern China and intangible cultural heritage.The fair also includes a seminar featuring literature and translation among Chinese and Egyptian writers and artists and a week-long film show in which six Chinese films with Arabic subtitles will be introduced to the audience.Chinese participation reflected the common consensus of the leaders of the two countries to deepen mutual understanding and friendship and will serve to promote the sound and sustainable development of bilateral relations, Chen said.Zhang Jichen, vice president of China National Publications Import and Export (Group) Corporation, which is in charge of the organization of the Chinese activities at the fair, said a cooperation agreement between the General Administration of Press and Publication of China and Egypt's Ministry of Culture.China will also present some 1,000 high-quality books to the National Library and Archives of Egypt and the Alexandria Library.The fair is expected to attract 632 publishers from 29 countries, including 17 in the Middle East. BEIJING, May 21 (Xinhua) -- China may see increased planting acre of early rice this year, though drought has not been relieved in some areas, said a statement on the website of the Ministry of Agriculture on Saturday.China is expected to plant 88.5 million Mu (5.87 million hectares) of early rice this year, about 1.6 million Mu more than the previous year, thanks to soaring rice prices and policy incentives, the statement said.However, drought continues in Hubei Province, Poyang Lake areas in Jiangxi Province, Dongting Lake areas in Hunan Province and Leizhou Peninsular in Guangdong Province, the statement said.The drought has affected about 3 million Mu of paddies in Hubei in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, the statement said.The statement urged local agricultural departments to help facilitate paddy management, as strong rains were forecast for southern China from Friday to next Tuesday.The middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River received about 40 to 60 percent less rain this year than in previous years -- this year being the least amount of rain in the past 50 years, said the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters.
