SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Condo and townhome sales increased more than 7 percent from April to May in San Diego County, while single-family home sales held steady, the Greater San Diego Association of Realtors reported Monday. Attached property sales increased 7.3 percent from 983 in April to 1,055 in May. Month-over-month sales of single-family homes increased by just 0.7 percent from 2,023 in April to 2,037 in May. Property sales, which plunged during the winter, have had steady increases since January. The price of single-family homes rose 1.2 percent from 2,200 in April to 0,000 in May. Attached property prices grew 3.3 percent from 0,000 in April to 4,000 in May. ``Sellers still have the upper hand in this market,'' said SDAR President Kevin Burke. ``However, buyers who take the time to research neighborhoods should find more homes for sale than they would have a year ago.'' SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Before Vice President Mike Pence made his way to Coronado, he spent the morning at the Hilton Bayfront Hotel.The Vice President and Second lady stayed there during their San Diego Visit. A few protestors inflated the now well-known "Baby Trump" outside of the hotel; It's possible the Vice President got a look at the giant balloon. "We're hoping that the Vice President sees this and sees that there is resistance here in San Diego," says protestor Will Johnson. The giant balloon was an attention grabber for many who saw it on Park Boulevard. "I knew he was coming to town, but I didn't know he was staying here," says Kate Permenter. Permenter is in town for a convention and staying at the Hilton Bayfront Hotel, saying, "So last night people kind of started freaking out."Outside of the hotel, security checked every car making its way into the garage. Hotel guests say there are dozens of police officers and secret service agents inside of the hotel. "At every entrance, there are cops just kind of staring at you."Dozens of officers escorted the motorcade as the Vice President left downtown this morning. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Coronavirus hospitalizations in San Diego County have doubled in the past two weeks. As cases continue to soar through the country many hospitals are being pushed to their limits.Nurses at Paradise Valley Hospital have seen some of the worst cases of COVID-19. In a new series of PSA videos, frontline workers like Rochielle Jocson are urging everyone to keep fighting.Jocson spends the night shift in the Emergency Room and Intensive Care Unit treating patients who are struggling to survive.“I get scared honestly,” said Jocson. “I don’t want to bring it home to my family.”For the past eight months, she’s suppressed exhaustion and conquered fear.“Sometimes it’s just not within your hands and you cry it out,” said Jocson. “Let it all out, take a deep breath and do it another day.”But the situation is only getting worse.In a press conference Thursday, Supervisor Nathan Fletcher says the number of COVID-related hospitalizations have doubled in the county over the last two weeks. County hospital beds are now inching towards 80% capacity.Jocson says they’re fully staffed and have enough supplies at Paradise Valley for now, but she knows the virus is unpredictable.“Resources are limited. We don’t know when the supplies are going to last,” said Jocson.She lives through the wrath of COVID every day and knows some people still aren’t listening to the warnings.“It’s heartbreaking to just see people not follow safety precautions,” said Jocson. “It’s like a punch in the gut so-to-speak to us healthcare workers.”She’s hoping to change that with a simple message.“You may be okay but the next person that you’re giving it to, will they be okay?” said Jocson.While the road ahead will still be long, there’s nowhere else she would rather be.“That’s why we keep going when at times we want to give up,” said Jocson. “Because you have that one patient that makes it worth it.”Paradise Valley Hospital tells ABC 10News their ICU is still under capacity.
