President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday he has fired Christopher Krebs, who was director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency in the Department of Homeland Security. Krebs’ agency was among several that declared this month’s election the “most secure in American history.”The letter was signed last week by leaders of the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, the U.S. Election Assistance Commission and the National Association of State Election Directors, among others. Krebs was the first director of the agency, appointed by the Trump administration to the post in 2018.In bold, the authors of the statement wrote, “There is no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes, or was in any way compromised.” This statement matches those from secretaries of state and boards of election throughout the US.“The November 3rd election was the most secure in American history,” the statement reads. “Right now, across the country, election officials are reviewing and double checking the entire election process prior to finalizing the result.”The group says that claims of election fraud are “unfounded.”“While we know there are many unfounded claims and opportunities for misinformation about the process of our elections, we can assure you we have the utmost confidence in the security and integrity of our elections, and you should too,” the statement read. “When you have questions, turn to elections officials as trusted voices as they administer elections.”Trump, who has filed a number of legal challenges to the election, challenged the assessment of many in the election security field.“The recent statement by Chris Krebs on the security of the 2020 Election was highly inaccurate, in that there were massive improprieties and fraud,” Trump said, adding several other misleading statements involving the 2020 election. “Krebs has been terminated as Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.”Trump’s legal team has struggled to gain a foothold in a number of legal challenges to the election. For instance on Tuesday, Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court dismissed a suit as the Trump campaign claimed that campaign officials did not have “meaningful access” to observe the vote counting in Philadelphia. The state’s Supreme Court said that election officials followed state law.The CISA addressed election-related rumors, such as that dead people are able to vote in the election, a claim that Trump baselessly has repeated. "Every state has voting system safeguards to ensure each ballot cast in the election can be correctly counted. State procedures often include testing and certification of voting systems, required auditable logs, and software checks, such as logic and accuracy tests, to ensure ballots are properly counted before election results are made official. With these security measures, election officials can check to determine that devices are running the certified software and functioning properly," the agency wrote. “We conclude the Board did not act contrary to law in fashioning its regulations governing the positioning of candidate representatives during the precanvassing and canvassing process, as the Election Code does not specify minimum distance parameters for the location of such representatives. Critically, we find the Board’s regulations as applied herein were reasonable in that they allowed candidate representatives to observe the Board conducting its activities as prescribed under the Election Code,” the court ruled.The Associated Press projected on Nov. 7 that Joe Biden would win the presidential election with at least 290 Electoral College votes. The Associated Press has not called Georgia, but Biden holds a 14,000 vote lead there, and the state is expected to finish a hand recount there on Wednesday. 4026

(AP) — An Amtrak train headed to Los Angeles from Seattle has been stuck on the tracks near Eugene, Oregon since Sunday after hitting a tree that fell onto the tracks.The Oregonian/OregonLive reports the Amtrak Coast Starlight train left Seattle Sunday morning and stopped in Oakridge, Oregon around 6:20 p.m., according to Amtrak spokeswoman Olivia Irvin.She says heavy snow and debris on the tracks have kept the 183 passengers stuck in the area and it's not yet clear when they will be able to leave.Oakridge is about 45 miles (72 kilometers) southeast of Eugene.Irvin said road closures in the area due to heavy snow and downed trees are making it difficult to provide alternative transportation.She said there is currently enough food on board for passengers.Union Pacific is helping Amtrak try to clear a path for the train. 853

POMONA (CNS) - A 38-year-old man was charged today with the murder of a 9-year-old girl whose body was found partially inside a large duffel bag near an equestrian trail in the Hacienda Heights area.Emiel Lamar Hunt -- who is believed to be the boyfriend of Trinity Love Jones' mother -- was arrested early Saturday in connection with the girl's death. Sheriff's officials said Hunt was found sleeping in his vehicle in a lot near San Diego International Airport. The arrest was assisted by the Port of San Diego Harbor Police. Hunt appeared briefly in a Pomona courtroom Tuesday, but his arraignment was delayed until April 16. He remains jailed in lieu of million bail.The criminal complaint alleges that Hunt has a 2005 conviction for child abuse from San Diego County. He could face up to 50 years to life in state prison if convicted as charged, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.Sheriff's officials said earlier that two "persons of interest'' had been detained for questioning in the case, but only Hunt was charged Tuesday.Sheriff's officials said they were not disclosing any additional information about the second person of interest, pending further investigation. The victim's relatives told reporters the girl's mother was the second person beingquestioned, but sheriff's officials would not confirm those reports, and there is no record of her being arrested.County workers clearing some brush in the area found the girl's body found about 10 a.m. March 5. Family members who created a memorial of candles, flowers, balloons, stuffed animals and photos near where the girl's body was found eventually confirmed her identity."Words can't explain what I'm feeling right now,'' Anthony Jones, Trinity's father, said at the memorial site. ``I just want answers. WPTV Sophia Lykke, the general manager at ClubMed Sandpiper Bay in Port St. Lucie, says the resort is working to attract families who can continue to work and attend online school. "We're open to anyone in the United States who want to make their way down to Florida," said general manager Sophia Lykke.She said they have set up two conference rooms that include one for kids to do their schoolwork.“We would have one of our mini club staff dedicated to chaperoning them. [They do ] not act as teachers but make sure they’re logged on [their computer] on time and doing their work," Lykke said. "We have a separate room for adults, which is basically like a working lounge where you can have coffee, snacks. If you need IT support, we have someone who can do it.
