Researchers from the University of Roehampton in London and the University of Sydney found that kangaroos know how to communicate with humans if they need help.According to the study published in the journal Biology Letters on Wednesday, out of the 11 kangaroos researched, 10 of them gazed at researchers when they were unable to access food during an unsolvable task. Out of those 10, nine of the marsupials would alternate their gaze from the object to the human.In some cases, researchers said, the kangaroos would sometimes even nudge or scratched them to ask for help, said co-author Alexandra Green, according to the University of Sydney.Before the study, researchers thought that only domesticated animals, like dogs, cats, wolves, horses, and sometimes goats, were capable of communicating with humans with an enhanced form of communication.Officials said the study's kangaroos were from various zoos in Australia and are familiar with people but are not considered domesticated. 996

Retail credit card APRs have not changed despite the Federal Reserve slashing interest rates to near zero this year, according to a new report from CreditCards.com.Store-only cards have the highest interest rate at nearly 30%. That's the case for a few jewelers, Discount Tire and Big Lots, which sells furniture and appliances.“They're kind of preying, in some cases, on people who are really desperate to buy something, but may not have the money for it,” said Ted Rossman, an industry analyst at CreditCards.com. “So, it's really all about risk management.”The website’s survey found more than 43% of people have impulsively applied for a store card at checkout.That phenomenon may change this holiday season, when much of the shopping is expected to be online.“It might be less of an issue this year,” said Rossman. “Although, who knows? Maybe the shoppers that are in store are going to be peddled these even more aggressively, so it's something to watch for.”Store credit cards can be worth it if you pay your bills in full to avoid interest and you're loyal to a certain retailer. That's especially true for cards that offer 5% back on everything you buy. President Donald Trump's administration plans to propose a new rule Friday that would bar abortions at facilities receiving federal family planning funds, according to two people familiar with the plans -- a move aimed squarely at Planned Parenthood, which accepts some federal money for non-abortion services.Long sought by conservatives, the step would take the administration's push to curtail abortions further. There are already laws in place that prevent federal money from directly funding abortions, but groups like Planned Parenthood still accept federal dollars for services like annual screenings and checkups."This proposal does not necessarily defund Planned Parenthood, as long as they're willing to disentangle taxpayer funds from abortion as a method of family planning, which is required by the Title X law," said a Trump administration official. "Any grantees that perform, support, or refer for abortion have a choice -- disentangle themselves from abortion or fund their activities with privately raised funds."Under the new rule, those services would have to be performed in a different place than abortions, and by different employees, if the facility is to continue receiving federal family planning dollars.Planned Parenthood receives some of its funding from those programs, known as Title X. But the bulk of the federal money it receives comes from Medicaid, and would not be affected by the new rule.The-CNN-Wire 1447
