SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A San Diego man died after crashing his car into a ditch overnight Sunday, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash happened on I-5 north near Clairemont in East Mission Bay. Officers say they believe the single-vehicle crash happened sometime overnight, but wasn't reported until the sun came up. According to CHP, the car crashed into a ditch on the side of a freeway. Officers say it's too early to determine if drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.  521

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego company has a solution for tired employees or students -- they've created "napping pods" which can be rented by the hour."It's a place to go, escape from a hectic environment and recharge," said Hohm CEO Nikolas Woods.The pods are small, just 43.5 square feet each. They include a fully-furnished twin-size bed, mirror, charging stations, fan, lights and light and noise dampening curtains."Every piece was put together to create the most comfort," said Woods.Right now, Woods has just three pods in service, all on the University of Arizona campus. He hopes to expand to more college campuses around the country.He's also trying to get large corporations to buy some for their employees, and he's trying to get some places in major airports as well."A lot of employees could use a break," Woods said. "Wouldn't it be better to go somewhere and recharge, get your productivity level up?"People can find and book the pods through the Hohm website. It costs around per hour, with a 30 minute minimum and 4 hour max.Woods hopes to launch an app this spring to make booking even easier.He said each installation will have an attendant nearby to help people check in, clean the pods and enforce a strict one-person-per-pod rule. 1266

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A photographer who recorded a security guard's exchange in Lemon Grove with a woman about immigration is explaining the situation.Sonia Sorrano says she is still shaken by the heated confrontation she stopped to record while shopping with her 9-year-old daughter."How am I supposed to tell my daughter she can trust a person in a uniform and badge?" Sorrano said.RELATED: Video shows security guard questioning woman's immigration statusSorrano started recording the argument when she says she heard the guard using inappropriate language.  "I understand he was frustrated with her but he got very unprofessional about it and I told him not to talk to her that way.  I did call him a fat ass, then he turned on me and called me an ugly b****  in front of my daughter."Sorrano said she has attempted to report the guard's actions to his employer, Allied Universal."I get no answers I just get put on hold.  I think he should be fired.  If I employed someone like that I would want him gone.  He was just unprofessional."  1087

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A plan to improve bike access along Harbor Drive may put pedestrians at risk.As SANDAG works to promote alternative transportation through its "Keep San Diego Moving" initiative, they plan to upgrade the Bayshore Bikeway.That includes a stretch through Barrio Logan that runs along Harbor Drive from 32nd Street to Park Boulevard.Renderings from SANDAG show a two-way bike lane protected from traffic by concrete or plants.But, plans to build the bike lanes also call for the removal of two pedestrian bridges that go over the intersection of Harbor Drive and 32nd Street. SANDAG will replace the bridges with crosswalks.Navy personnel use the bridges as they go to and from Naval Base San Diego every day.Some people who use the bridge daily say they're worried that it will lead to more accidents and dangerous conditions while trying to cross. Others say it could lead to more people jaywalking along Harbor Drive.SANDAG told 10News that safety is their top concern, and the new crosswalks will "enhance the entire intersection, including adding pedestrian pushbuttons, striped crosswalks, median landings, and other safety features."SANDAG also says they're working with the Navy and other city organizations to make sure the crosswalks are as safe as the bridges. A spokesperson for the Navy was unable to provide a comment about the project.Right now, the project is in the environmental review phase. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A local casting director making it big in Hollywood after signing stars for a movie hitting theaters Friday.The movie, The Last Full Measure, is based on soldier William H. Pitsenbarger, Jr. who rescued more than 60 men during the Vietnam War. Casting Director Iris Hampton fell in love with the script the first time she read it, "I couldn't put it down, it was so beautiful." She was born and raised in San Diego in a military family and married a Marine Veteran, bringing the plot close to home.Hampton got into the business during a vacation to Hawaii. She said she went to the Magnum P.I. office and asked if they needed any help, "they said not right now, but why don't you come back in three months? So I came home, packed my bags and I went."Since then she's worked with big names like Chuck Norris and the Power Rangers. "I am going on my 28th and 29th season of that show," she said referring to the Power Rangers.Seven years ago she signed on to The Last Full Measure. The movie follows Pitsenbarger, Jr. during Operation Abilene in the Vietnam War. He descended from a helicopter while troops were under fire and rescued as many as he could, before he was killed.The film then follows the men who worked for decades to get Pitsenbarger, Jr. the Medal of Honor. "It ended up being 32 years they fought for him to get the medal of honor," she said."Pitts was a hero and a legend," Hampton said paratroopers idolize him.With a deep love and respect for the military, Hampton said this project is the pinnacle of her career.She signed stars like Samuel L. Jackson, Sebastian Stan, Jeremy Irvine,Christopher Plummer, Ed Harris and the late Peter Fonda for the movie."I was just so proud and I am just so proud of each and every one of them," she said she can't wait for the movie to hit theaters so San Diegans can see it. 1856
