CLEVELAND — Chadwick Boseman’s death is putting the spotlight on colorectal cancer.Doctors are concerned about the alarming increase in patients between the ages of 25 and 45 years old who are being diagnosed with colorectal cancer.“I’m seeing younger and younger patients. 22-year-olds, 25-year-olds, 26-year-olds, and it’s left all of us a little bit puzzled as to why this is happening,” said Dr. Alok Khorana with the Cleveland Clinic.Carole Motycka went to the doctor for shoulder pain four years ago.“He ordered some tests and it turned out I had a lot more going on than I anticipated,” Motycka said.Motycka was 42 years old when she was diagnosed with colon cancer. She is now on a mission to bring attention, awareness and education to the disease and the increase in younger patients.“Two decades ago, this was widely recognized as a disease in older people,” said Khorana. He said there has been a substantial increase. “Maybe 100% increase, but rates are still very low,” he explained.Colon cancer is much more common among older people. Black men also have higher rates of the disease.There has been a decrease in colon cancer rates among people 50 years old and above, while an increase in the 25-45 age group. Most young patients do not have a family history of the disease.Experts believe catching colon cancer early is the key to survival. But young people are typically diagnosed much later, and Khorana said the cancer seems to be more aggressive.Doctors don’t yet know what is causing the spike in young people.“There are a lot of clues. There’s been an obesity epidemic in the younger population that came 10 to 20 years before the rise in colon cancer,” said Khorana. “A second clue offered is antibiotic use in young people,” he added.Boseman, who played superhero Black Panther on screen, fought a battle off-screen against colon cancer privately for four years.“It’s sad to know it had to happen to have awareness take place but also it’s good to know we can have the conversation on a bigger platform and stage,” said Motycka.Click here for a look at symptoms of colon cancer. CLEVELAND — After the team announced it will be changing its name, Cleveland Indians owner Paul Dolan sent a letter to fans addressing the decision.Dolan said that as a fifth-generation Clevelander, he understands the impact and importance of the decision to change the name. He said while many fans may be upset that the team they grew up with will soon have a different name, the most important part of the team isn’t changing."Like many of you, I grew up with this name and have many great memories of past Indians teams: the World Series appearances, Cy Young winners, the longest win streak in MLB history, and countless other unforgettable moments that brought our team, fans, and community together,” Dolan wrote. “These memories will forever stay in our hearts, minds, and record books, and we will continue to recognize our ball club’s remarkable legacy. COLUMBIA COUNTY, Wisconsin -- Twenty people were hurt when a semi-truck hit a school bus carrying students from a Milwaukee private school Wednesday morning, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.Four of the injuries are serious, the DOT says. The severity of the other injuries is not yet known.The students were from Hope Semper Christian School.The crash happened just after 10:00 a.m. on I-39 northbound, near DeForest, Wisconsin. The DOT says the semi crashed into the school bus, which was parked on the shoulder of the interstate after pulling over due to a mechanical issue.Students who were not injured are being transported to the State Patrol Post in DeForest for reunification with family members.The students were participating in an end-of-year field trip, according to a statement the school posted on Facebook. "While very scary, our staff and students were blessed by urgent first-responders, local medical attention as well as the kindness and generosity of Deforest Public Schools. COCKEYSVILLE, Md. — A Maryland man is facing more than two dozen criminal charges after stealing a dump truck while drunk and on drugs, fleeing from police, and killing a man during the chase.The incident reportedly began about 2 p.m. Monday when Baltimore City Police contacted Maryland State Police about a stolen dump truck headed northbound on I-83.Troopers eventually located the truck, owned by a roofing company, unoccupied in a Walmart parking lot in Cockeysville, Maryland. Police say they set up surveillance to see who had stolen the tuck. A man, later identified as 26-year-old Zackery Haeger, was later seen getting into the truck, at which time police attempted to stop the vehicle, but he refused. Haeger then proceeded to drive towards troopers who were outside of their vehicles, causing them to have to jump out of the way. Driving erratically at a high rate of speed, he continued to flee, leading troopers on a chase that spanned from York Road through Padonia and Cranbrook Road. He was driving down the median lane on York Road when he hit another car at Padonia Road, causing disabling damage to the car. During the pursuit, the stolen Ford F550 dump truck crossed a double yellow line again and collided with another car, an oncoming Nissan at Rossbrooke Circle. Haeger then bailed out of the car and ran away, where he was captured by troopers.Officials say Haeger was taken to Sinai Hospitals for minor injuries where he gave officers a fake name, but a fingerprint check identified the man as Haeger.
