Several soon-to-be-married Valley couples say they're worried they've lost the thousands of dollars they invested on their wedding venue.NOAH's Event Center in Chandler, Arizona, sent an email to couples who booked the venue off Cooper and the Loop 202 saying they were canceling their highly anticipated events. “I had to re-read it again honestly. I was like, 'What? Is this real?'" said Melanie Stephenson, whose wedding was set for March of 2020. “I just mailed out my invites in November, so I had to re-message everyone like, 'Sorry wedding is postponed until I don’t even know when.'"Stephenson says she paid off the cost of the venue last December forking over ,000 to rent the entire building for the night and for NOAH to provide bartenders for her big day.“It just really sucks," she added. "This is like a hit in the face pretty much for all of us." Stephenson says NOAH's story doesn't add up. “I made sure to choose a company that I thought was solid because they have 30 other buildings throughout the United States," she said. ST. LOUIS, Mo. — A St. Louis Man made a gruesome discovery while cleaning out his mother's apartment after she died. Adam Smith says he found a dead baby in her freezer, and it's apparently been there for several years. Smith said he has been living in the apartment and taking care of his mother, who passed away from cancer just a few days ago. He said his mother had kept the box, wrapped up tight, in their freezer for decades and always told him to stay away from it. After she passed away, he decided to open it. "There was a pink blanket, baby blanket, and when I reached down and touched it I could feel a foot," Smith told CNN. I could see the baby's head with hair, hair that was still attached to it, smooth."Police were called to the building early Sunday morning. They call the infant's death "suspicious."Smith told police that he never looked inside the box his mother kept wrapped in the freezer. He always thought it was a frozen wedding cake. Smith says his mother once told him that she lost a child at birth and that family members have told him that his mother had twins at one point, but lost one of the babies at birth. The second twin was allegedly given up for adoption. "Who absolutely keeps their own child in a box for this long and never talks about it and never, I just have so many thoughts and it's just insane," Smith said. Smith said he's distraught thinking about the possibility that the child may have been his sister and what his mother may have done to her. "I have to wait for the autopsy to see if that baby ever took a breath and I cannot help it, to think she might have done something to it. I just can't help it," Smith said. And now that his mother is gone, Smith said he wonders if he'll ever know the truth. "I wanted some kind of closure and I feel like I may never get any closure because my mom's gone," Smith said. Emotions are running high through several Midwest states today, as people realize the devastation high flood waters caused.Thousands of acres of farmland saturated for days, combined with the potential animal losses, may put some farmers out of a livelihood. Farm animals weren’t the only animals affected by the storm. In Freeport, Illinois, firefighters used front-end loaders to rescue 14 dogs and eight cats, all for homeowners who had to no way into their neighborhoods. "My wife was at work, and I came back into town, and at that point I realized I couldn't get across the bridge, get into my home," says Freeport resident Shawn Starry.At Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, the rising flood waters have brought yet another concern. Col. Dave Norton says the water line was almost to the top of the windows at the headquarters of their security forces teams on-base. About a third of the base, which has 80 structures, has been under flood water since Saturday. "Places we would have meetings in routinely now have literally feet of water in them,” says Col. Norton. When an oily sheen began showing up on the surface of the flood water this week, officials feared a fuel tank may have ruptured. That doesn't appear to have happened, but as a precaution they've brought in teams to place yellow plastic tubing around the area to contain the substance.
