SAN YSIDRO, Calif. (KGTV) -- Part of Interstate 5 in San Ysidro will be closed overnight Monday as part of the San Ysidro Land Port of Entry Modernization and Expansion project.The third stage of the project opens the four westernmost lanes of the newly constructed I-5 southbound just south of the Camino De La Plaza Bridge. Southbound I-5 will be closed between SR-905 and the San Ysidro Port of Entry from 10 p.m. May 13, to 7 a.m. May 14. The Camino De La Plaza southbound I-5 on-ramp will also close during the same time period. Traffic will be detoured to southbound Interstate 805 freeway via SR-905. Additionally, two to three southbound I-805 lanes will be closed during the same time period to complete the transition. SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. — In-person schooling was supposed to begin Monday for the J. O. Combs School District, but a move by teachers and staff forced the district to cancel school for the day.On Friday, a J. O. Combs Spokesperson said 109 teachers and staff requested not to work on Monday."Due to these insufficient staffing levels, schools will not be able to re-open on Monday as planned. This means that all classes, including virtual learning, will be canceled," wrote J. O. Combs Superintendent Dr. Gregory Wyman in a letter to parents on Friday. "At this time, we do not know the duration of these staff absences, and cannot yet confirm when in-person instruction may resume."A teacher in the district said that one of the reasons teachers decided to call out Monday was that they felt unprepared to teach students virtually and in-person.Teachers are expected to simultaneously instruct students in the classroom and those at home via live stream. One teacher believes they were not adequately prepared to cater to both types of learners, since all of the educators' attention has been on executing online learning."The issue is that [a] teacher would not be able to tend to the online learners that are on Google," said a teacher in the district. "Even in-class learning must be modified for online. So it's a lose-lose for both types of learners."That teacher said only one hour of training was given for the live stream equipment."Some classes have as many as 36 [on] their roster or more. About half are choosing to stay home, so we really need to service our online learners."Aside from the feeling of unpreparedness from teachers, many feel unsafe since benchmarks set by the Arizona Department of Health Services have yet to be met by any of the school districts."My coworkers do not feel safe. Metrics being met is a big deal. SAN YSIDRO (KGTV) -- Business owners and commuters from Mexico are nervously waiting and watching to see what President Trump's next move will be. Tuesday afternoon, the president told reporters he is still deciding whether he'll shut down the southern border. Business owners in San Ysidro say just the mere threat is keeping people away. "There's a lot of workers who cross daily, and most of them live in Mexico, so that definitely affects them, but people who are in retail it definitely affects our sales because customers don't want to get stuck at the border like they did last time there was a 5 hour shut down," said Govinda Figueroa. She said when the border at San Ysidro closed in November, it took weeks to make up the loss. "Last time there was a shut down it actually affected our sales for the next two weeks," said Figueroa.Juan Cisneros lives in Tijuana, but walks to San Ysidro for work. He says the thought of the port of entry closing, even for a day, scares him. "If we work in Mexico, the money is not enough, that's why we have to cross here to have a better living, so that's the reason we cross most of the time, so it will change our lives," said Cisneros. During Tuesday's news conference, the president said in the last two days, Mexico has done a better job of stopping the flow of Central American migrants from coming through its southern border. Figueroa said she doesn't know what to think. "I think it's 50/50. I think a lot of us think it's just another political move and just another you know, empty promise or threat, but the people who cross are afraid it's going to happen and they don't want to get stuck at the border or on this side and not being able to cross back." 1720

Even after her death, Houston's performance at the Super Bowl remains one of her most played songs.Jack Black — Los Angeles, 2011Black is most known for his slapstick comedy, so it must have been strange for fans of the WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks step to the mic for the anthem in 2011.However, Black is one half of the musical duo known as Tenacious D, and showed off his pipes in the 2003 comedy "School of Rock." Whether or not the Staples Center crowd was ready for it, Black went out and delivered a stirring rendition of the "Star Spangled Banner."Jesse McGuire — 2013 NFL PlayoffsThough the national anthem is played and sung live dozens of times each day, it's not often that an instrumental version of the anthem is played solo.
