For four days starting Monday, the Democrats will hold their national convention virtually after canceling their in-person convention slated for Milwaukee due to the coronavirus.The Democrats will attempt to keep a familiar format for its convention, with several keynote speakers scheduled to speak each night.The Republicans will also hold most of their convention activities virtually, starting for four nights on August 24.What’s differentThe conventions are generally a spectacle with thousands of party supporters gathered in a large arena amid pomp and circumstance. While conventions are a way for parties to energize their leaders for the stretch run of a campaign, the gathering of delegates allow for the party to develop its platform.While conventions officially serve the purpose of nominating a candidate for vice president and president, the nominations are generally a formality at the convention. With a virtual convention, the most visual component of the convention is gone. Will the addresses just be seen as more stump speeches?The event will also be pared down some. The speeches will run from 9 to 11 p.m. ET nightly. At previous conventions, festivities generally began in the late afternoon. With a shortened timeframe, a number of lower profile Democrats – think members of Congress without a national profile – won’t make it on the convention stage.What’s the sameThe format will still be a familiar one for those who follow conventions. A number of speeches will be given by top Democrats to promote Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, and the party’s platform.Tuesday will also feature the official nomination for president and vice president. Wednesday will include the traditional vice presidential nominee acceptance speech, following by Thursday’s traditional presidential nominee acceptance speech.Like at a customary convention, the virtual Democratic Convention will have themes each night. For parents preparing to start this school year with their children at home, there are concerns about children adapting mentally and emotionally to another semester away from their schoolmates and teachers.“I am a parent myself, so I can relate to the anxiety,” said Janine Domingues, a clinical psychologist with the Child Mind Institute.Domingues says parents have very good reason to be concerned.“For children or adolescents who were already prone to anxiety or social anxiety or depression, certainly this time, as you are more isolated and can’t interact with others, it can heighten anxiety and depression symptoms,” said Domingues.There are warning signs parents can look for to recognize if the isolation and social distancing are getting to their child.“Further isolation in their room, not getting out of bed, not engaging in activity that they normally would’ve engaged in,” said Domingues. “And honestly, if they are expressing sadness every day and in intense levels of that.”If a parent sees some of those warning signs, they are strongly encouraged to take action.“The number one step is reaching out for mental health services,” said Domingues. “Whether it is reaching out to a previous psychologist or therapist that you worked with or a new psychologist.”Organizations like the Child Mind Institute provide telehealth services for children struggling mentally and emotionally right now, and they even provide financial assistance for families concerned about affording the sessions.However, before it gets to the point where a child may need help, Domingues said there are steps parents can take to help their child adjust better to this start of the school year at home.“Really talking about it, honestly,” said Domingues. “Helping them understand that there might be another time where we are doing this at home.”She said parents should ask their children about their concerns, ask what worked well at the end of last semester and what did not, and ask the child about what they think they will feel at the start of this semester.“It can feel very overwhelming and anxiety-provoking, but again, it’s just taking one step at a time and talking through it,” said Domingues.Domingues, and most psychologists, believe kids are resilient and with the proper guidance, they can adapt to whatever schooling situation they’ll be in this fall. 2363

FREMONT COUNTY, Idaho — Chad Daybell has pleaded not guilty after investigators say they found the remains of two missing children on his property.According to court documents obtained by KSTU on Monday, Daybell entered a not-guilty plea on Friday. The action, filed in the Fremont County court system, also included a request for a jury trial and pre-trial process.Daybell was charged with two felony counts of destruction or concealment of evidence last week after police say they found the remains of Joshua "J.J." Vallow and Tylee Ryan buried on his property in Salem, Idaho.He remains in jail on a million bond.Daybell married the two kids' mother, Lori Vallow, after they went missing in September and after his wife Tammy Daybell died in October. Fox News wants its biggest fans to sign up for a streaming service called "Fox Nation."The network is preparing to announce the new product on Tuesday morning, according to The New York Times.The Times said it will be a "stand-alone subscription service available without a cable package."The online channel is expected to start "by the end of the year," according to the report. The content will consist primarily of "right-leaning commentary, with original shows and cameos by popular personalities like Sean Hannity."A Fox News spokeswoman declined to comment ahead of Tuesday's announcement.But the Times story quoted John Finley, a senior vice president at the network, as saying that the "Fox Nation" service is "designed to appeal to the Fox superfan," the "folks who watch Fox News every night for hours at a time, the dedicated audience that really wants more of what we have to offer."Fox's existing contracts with cable and satellite providers limit how much it can stream shows like "Fox & Friends," "Special Report" and "Hannity." Former Trump campaign adviser Roger Stone told associates he was in contact with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in 2016, according to a new report by The Washington Post, which cites two sources.An unnamed source told the Post that Stone had a phone conversation with Assange in the spring of 2016. Ahead of any public knowledge about Democratic email leaks, Stone told the source he had learned WikiLeaks had obtained emails from the Democratic National Committee and Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton's campaign chairman, John Podesta.During the campaign, Stone said in interviews and speeches that he was in touch with WikiLeaks, and he posted tweets in October 2016 that seemingly predicted the Podesta leaks.
