(KGTV) -- President Trump is answering questions about a new round of stimulus checks that could be extended to Americans as well as coronavirus concerns and why he believes mail-in ballots could lead to voter fraud in his latest interview.Speaking to Scripps' Washington Correspondent, Joe St. George, the President said he expects a new stimulus package to be announced soon. Trump also said he is working to rebuild the economy, which has taken a major hit during COVID-19."We had this going better than anybody's ever seen before. We had the best job numbers, the best economics, the best economy we've ever had, and then we had the virus come in from China, and now we're rebuilding it again," Trump said."We will be doing another stimulus package. It'll be very good, it'll be very generous," he added.Asked when the new stimulus package could be introduced, Trump said he expects it to be announced "over the next couple of weeks."Trump was also asked to cite specific evidence as to why he says mail-in ballots are fraudulent."There are thousands of cases all over, thousands. I don't like the system," Trump said. "An example, a friend of mine gets a ballot, his son unfortunately passed away seven years ago, he gets a ballot for his son to vote. It's one case, but there are thousands and thousands of cases," he added."The other thing is with main-in ballots people can forge them, foreign countries can print them," Trump continued.The President also mentioned California mail-in ballots throughout the interview."In California they send tens of millions of slips out, of ballots out. They put them in mail boxes, people take them, they take them from the mail man and they print them, they fraudulently print them. It's a very bad system, it's going to lead to a tremendous fraud and we're trying to stop it," Trump said.Following his Tulsa rally, Trump said he isn't worried at all ahead of a Monday night event inside an Arizona church meant to attract students as cases in the state continue to spike."No I don't think so. Crews have been working to repair damage to the public grounds, including browning of the South Lawn and mud patches in the Rose Garden, after the spaces were used as backdrops for President Donald Trump’s convention events. First lady Melania Trump delivered her convention speech in the newly-refurbished Rose Garden and the president formally accepted his party’s nomination on the South Lawn in front of more than a thousand people seated in rows of closely-packed white chairs, despite the ongoing pandemic.“The sod is being replaced at no cost to taxpayers. Additionally, there has been other planned infrastructure work taking place on the south grounds,” said White House spokesman Judd Deere. WASHINGTON, D.C. – It’s been a strange time everywhere, with COVID-19 upending how people normally live.That includes college students, many of whom are now in a hybrid form of learning, with some on campus and some on a computer at home, like Gregory Carnesi.“Something that I've been experiencing myself, something that I've heard my peers experiencing, is just this feeling of being overwhelmed because everything is online now,” Carnesi said.Carnesi goes to Arizona State University, just one of the campuses in the U.S. where the nonprofit and mental health organization “Active Minds” recently surveyed several thousand college students, to see how they are faring in the time of COVID-19.Here’s what they found:- 1 in 4 students said their depression had “significantly increased” since the start of the pandemic- 89% of the students surveyed said they’re experiencing stress or anxiety- 56% said their daily activity had decreased or significantly decreased.“We have to remind people, ‘you know, you used to walk three miles a day to and from class, or you used to be out on the field running around for soccer practice and you're not doing that right now.’ So how else can you fill that gap and that void for yourself?” said Alison Malmon, founder and executive director of Active Minds.Malmon said it’s also important for colleges and universities to tailor student access to mental health services, since so many are no longer on campus as much.“We are still needing to promote access and we are still needing to give people the supports that they need in the way that they are able to reach them,” Malmon said.Yet, there were some positive findings in the survey.- Nearly two-thirds of students, 66%, said they have been helping support others with their mental health- 77% of those surveyed said they feel optimistic about the futureGregory Carnesi said he is just taking it one day at a time.“I really kind of think the best thing that's worked for me is just having grace and mercy with myself,” he said, “and just doing your best day to day. WASHINGTON (KGTV and AP) — Washington Democrats turned down a deal Monday that would have provided protections for Dreamer immigrants in return for billion in funding for President Trump's border wall.Lawmakers have yet to agree on a .3 trillion catchall spending bill, as well as a major rail project.The bill contains victories for both parties including a Pentagon budget increase requested by Republicans, and the domestic program, infrastructure and opiod crisis funding that Democrats want.Efforts to use the measure as a vehicle to extend protections for young immigrants under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival, or DACA, program appeared likely to fail, aides said. Trump killed the Obama-era program in September, but a court decision has essentially left it in place, for now. The White House had revived the idea in recent days — offering on Sunday a 30-month extension of DACA protections in exchange for billion for Trump's border wall — but Democrats demanded protections for a broader pool of immigrants than had signed up for DACA, a request denied by GOP negotiators.There's also a continuing battle over Trump's long-promised U.S.-Mexico border wall. While Trump traveled to Otay Mesa last week to inspect prototypes for the wall, what's pending now is .6 billion for earlier designs involving sections in Texas that double as levees and 14 miles (23 kilometers) of replacement fencing in San Diego.It appears Democrats may be willing to accept wall funding, but they are battling hard against Trump's demands for big increases for immigration agents and detention beds they fear would enable wide-scale roundups of immigrants illegally living in the U.S.Aides believe any measure would be unveiled Tuesday for a House vote Thursday.
