One of the people inside the Waffle House in Antioch, Tennessee where a gunman opened fire said she played dead in order to stay alive.Kayla Shaw, age 21, shared her story with Scripps station WTVF in Nashville three days after three customers and a restaurant employee were killed. "That was a very traumatic experience, and it changed my life," Shaw said. "I went to a store for the first time yesterday, and I was constantly looking over my shoulder and checking my surroundings. Every little noise scared me."Shaw is from Brownsville, Tennessee and was in Nashville to visit her cousins over the weekend.They were at a different Waffle House that morning, but it was so busy that they placed a to-go order at the Murfreesboro location instead.She was paying for her food near the counter when gunshots erupted."I heard a loud pop on my left side, and after that I felt the glass from the window hit my face and I fell on my right side," she remembered. "I laid there, and my first thought was, 'God please don't let me die inside of a Waffle House.'"The young mother showed the scratches to her face from the glass and the bruise on her arm after hitting it against a stool. She said all she could do at that point was close her eyes and pray."The one time during the altercation I opened my eyes, the only thing I saw was the shooter's genitals because he was naked in the direction I was laying. I question why I got to live, but I feel like my actions by playing dead actually helped me live after I heard the gunshot," she emphasized. "My whole body was motionless."Unbeknownst to her, another restaurant patron wrestled the AR-15 from the gunman and likely saved countless people from dying.She hid behind the counter as soon as she no longer heard gunshots."I actually tripped over someone's dead body and I fell right in front of a young lady who had a majority of her leg blown off. I was in such a state of shock, all I could do was pray over her," added Shaw. "She asked me to give her her phone which was under the guy's body I tripped over."When it was clear to go, Shaw frantically ran to the car and drove off with her cousins.It did not take too long before she spotted the naked gunman on the run."I'm speeding though like we're so shocked, and I see the naked shooter on the side of the road. I was almost paralyzed in that moment. It was so terrifying to leave that place and to actually see him on the side of the road walking, while my cousin was on the phone with dispatchers," she said. That same day she got to meet James Shaw (who she is unrelated to), the man credited and honored by Tennessee lawmakers for stopping the shooter from killing others. She described the moment as emotional as both hugged and cried in each other's arms."I continued to express my gratitude to him," she said. "James, on behalf of me and everybody that walked out of the Waffle House, we thank you so much."Travis Reinking, age 29, was arrested for the shooting following a nearly 35-hour long manhunt. The victims he's accused of killing were Taurean Sanderlin, Joe R. ONTARIO, Calif. (KGTV) -- Two children were found dead in a home in Ontario, California Tuesday night, according to police. Police say the responded to the 500 block of East Tam O’Shanter Street around 5 p.m. Tuesday. The Ontario Police Department said in a series of tweets that officers discovered two children dead in the home. One adult was taken to the hospital. Police say the cause of death is unclear at this time and the investigation is ongoing. According to police, the incident is being investigated as suspicious. Ontario Police are working a suspicious death at a residence in the 500 block of East Tam O Shanter St. One adult has been transported to the hospital for treatment. Nurse Theresa Klenk sees plenty of cases of heatstroke at the New Jersey hospital where she works.But when her husband, a UPS driver, was admitted with symptoms incurred during a shift driving a brown delivery truck with no air conditioning, she decided to do something.Klenk created a petition on change.org in July urging UPS to provide air conditioning in its trucks. It's been signed more than 210,000 times.But UPS is not planning to equip its vehicles.Dan McMackin, a UPS spokesperson, told CNNMoney that air conditioning wouldn't work on its trucks."Our delivery vehicles make frequent stops and the entry doors and rear doors are frequently opened and closed throughout the day, making air conditioning ineffective," he said.McMackin said the company does have a program for drivers feeling adverse effects from heat called Cool Solutions, which focuses on hydration and extra rest before extreme heat conditions."We provide water and ice in all facilities for employees and we have fans in many of our vehicles. We monitor local area temperatures and inform our drivers every morning of the forecast temperatures," he said.The Cool Solutions program doesn't solve any problems, Klenk said.At her husband's facility, the program merely consists of handing out a case of water every morning to the branch's 68 drivers, she said.Heatstroke sets in when the body gets so hot that it stops sweating. At 10 degrees above normal body temperature -- about 107 degrees -- it begins to get too hot for organs to function.The union hasn't been much help with the air conditioning issue, Klenk said.UPS's roughly 260,000 employees belong to the International Brotherhood of Teamsters union. In June, the union reached a new tentative contract with UPS for the main small-package division, ensuring wage rises and creating a part-time weekend force.Klenk, whose husband is with Teamsters, said that the air conditioning issue is not a part of the contract.Andrea Medinaverbeck, a petition signer, commented: "As a former Teamster shop steward for UPS out of Sunnyvale, CA, we have negotiated AC in package cars, but it has always gone by the wayside when other issues arise that unfortunately, the union thinks are more important. In essence, it's been used as a bargaining chip instead of an important issue."Teamsters declined to comment.UPS isn't the only delivery company facing a call for air conditioning. A similar change.org petition aims at FedEx, and has garnered 161,000 of 200,000 desired signatures. (KGTV) - An Oceanside homeowner got a shock at work when his phone alerted him to intruders inside his tented condo.James says around 5 in the morning in late September, his heart dropped when the security alert showed him a real-time image: an intruder, wearing a headlamp in his 11-year-old daughter's bedroom."Seeing a stranger in my house, especially my daughter's room, is very nerve wracking," said James.His daughter wasn't home. No one was. His condo, along with the entire Pamilla Del Oro community was wrapped in a fumigation tent. That day was the last of a three-day fumigation.As it turns out, the burglars had sliced the tent and removed a screen before making an appearance on James' phone. He called 9-1-1. Police showed up soon after."They set up a perimeter and called the guys out. One came crawling out," said James.James showed 10News a photo of that man handcuffed. Two other intruders captured on by the cameras got away. None of them wore masks. They didn't take much from the home, only a few fishing knives."We took our valuables out before the fumigation," said James.
