"We thank the operating participants that are closing this summer for their partnership over the years."Disney did not say if any of the businesses will close permanently or join the hotel development.RELATED: Disney to close A Bug's Land to make way for superhero-themed landESPN Zone cast members are being helped by Disney to find new roles in the park and the other businesses are looking into redeploying their employees to other Southern California locations. The park is also holding three job fairs from April to May.The businesses will close by June 30, with demolition of the site slated to begin in July. The hotel is scheduled to open in 2021.Downtown Disney's hotel is the latest project by the park to increase its appeal outside the theme park.RELATED: Report: 10 percent of Disneyland employees have recently experienced homelessnessEarlier this year, the park announced San Diego-based Ballast Point Brewing would open the park's first on-site brewery in 2018.Ballast Point's Disney location will be family-friendly, according to the park, offering a children's menu and gluten-free and vegetarian options. 2105

An Arizona Uber driver says a local school administrator tried to turn his ride-share van into a school bus.The man, who was granted anonymity for this story, said on Wednesday he showed up at the Arizona Academy of Science and Technology and was surprised to see six school children who appeared to be under the age of eight getting into his Uber.  In a video recorded inside his vehicle, a frustrated exchange takes place between the driver and a woman who identified herself as an acting principal. The woman told the Uber driver the person who requested the ride was the assistant principal since the principal was out of town. After the children loaded up into the van, the driver asked the woman if she was going with them. When she said no, he told her he cannot transport the children without an adult riding with them. The woman asked him why, and he told her it was against Uber's company policy. In the video exchange you hear the woman say:"Every Uber we've had has a different story. Why?" the woman asks the driver in the video. The driver responded by saying that other drivers must not have been aware of the policy.Despite repeated calls, Arizona Academy of Science and Technology did not respond for a request for comment. On its website, school officials state that while they do not provide transportation for students, they are happy to work with families by linking them together and promote car-pooling.The Uber driver said he was bringing this story to light because he felt school administrators were putting the children at risk."It's one thing to carpool with another family or an adult but another thing entirely to put small children in a strangers car you know," said the driver.A spokesman for Uber says under their community guidelines, children must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times. A rider must be 18 years or older to ride or have an account, or they can be accompanied by someone who is 18 years or older. You can read the Uber Community guidelines here.  2059

ANDERSON, Ind. -- An armored truck spilled money on the interstate after it hit several potholes on I-69 early Saturday morning and crashed into a ditch. The crash happened near Anderson around 1 a.m. local time. The Garda armored delivery truck driver told the deputies with the Madison County Sheriff's Office that he hit several potholes which caused him to lose control of the vehicle and he overcorrected, hitting a guardrail and sliding into a ditch. The rolled several times before it landed on its side. Deputies say some money was on the road after the crash but most of it remained secured in the armored delivery vehicle. The driver and his passenger were treated for minor injuries on the scene.  The armored truck delivery company sent another truck to the scene to recover the money and the truck.  842

An Ohio state Senator used the term "colored people" and asked if the coronavirus pandemic is disproportionately affecting black people because they "do not wash their hands as well as other groups" during a public hearing earlier this week.State Sen. Steve Huffman, R-Tipp City, who represents portions of Dayton, made the comments on Tuesday during a hearing about declaring racism as a "public health crisis.""My point is I understand African Americans have a higher incidence of chronic conditions, and it makes them more susceptible to death from COVID," Huffman said, according to The Dayton Daily News. "But why it doesn't make them more susceptible to just get COVID? Could it just be that African Americans or the colored population do not wash their hands as well as other groups or wear a mask or do not socially distance themselves? That could be the explanation of the higher incidence?"Huffman later issued a statement about his comments, calling them regrettable."Regrettably, I asked a question in an unintentionally awkward way that was perceived as hurtful and was exactly the opposite of what I meant," Huffman said. "I was trying to focus on why COVID-19 affects people of color at a higher rate since we really do not know all the reasons."In response to Huffman's comments, the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus issued a statement calling on all 132 members of the Ohio General Assembly and their staffs to take racial equity and implicit bias training."It is just unbelievable he would ask that kind of question or use that kind of terminology," said Ohio NAACP President Tom Roberts, who used to represent Huffman's district.According to the bio on his state senator page, Huffman has a medical degree and is a practicing physician. The CDC says there are several reasons why African Americans are disproportionately contracting the virus. Black people are more likely to live in cities and multi-generational households, which increases the risk of spread. Black people are also more likely to be employed as essential workers and less likely to be offered paid sick leave. The term "colored" is widely known to be an outdated term for black people in 2020 and is often associated with Jim Crow laws of the early 20th century. 2254
