NAPLES, Fla. - Two people were killed after falling 70 feet when an elevator collapsed in Naples, Florida on Wednesday. Two construction workers were standing on a lift at Club Brittany of Park Shore, the Naples Fire Department said. They working on an outside elevator when the lift the construction workers were on collapsed and dropped 70 feet, they said. It has been confirmed both workers are dead. The elevator is attached to the side of the building and is typically used during renovations."This would be used after the building is completed, probably windows, railings, repairs and stucco," said David Mola, a contractor who lives near the accident.Mola says accidents involving these elevators are extremely rare.  Construction on condominiums along Gulfshore Boulevard have ramped up since season has ended."They're usually restricted, they usually have 6 months from now to late October to finish," said Mola.Officials from OSHA, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration arrived at the scene to investigate.The identity of the victims have not been released. 1107

(KGTV) -- A National City Police Officer has been placed on administrative leave for allegedly using racist and insensitive language during text conversations that surfaced online.The comments were reportedly made during a private text message conversation between the officer and a member of his family. We are extremely disappointed that we have to conduct an investigation into one of our officer’s alleged misconduct. MURRIETA, Calif. (KGTV) - The father of a solar power worker injured in a Murrieta explosion wants answers about the disaster. Clay Borel’s 24-year-old son Anthony was working for Horizon Solar Panel the day the home blew up, KABC reported. "He was in pretty bad shape. I could see the cuts, and his head, and his face, legs, burned real bad on his arms, legs and face,” the father said. Anthony Borel was one of 14 people injured in the blast and can’t remember what happened that day. A man who worked for SoCal Gas died. Borel's father wants to know why the area was not evacuated between the time the gas started leaking and the explosion, KABC reports."That's enough time to say hey, move to the other side of the street, get out of the blast zone, while we figure out what's going on, so we can eliminate the threat." Multiple cell phones, scopes, two rifles and more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition were found by police during a search of Travis Reinking's Antioch apartment. In an affidavit from Metro Nashville Police, detectives searched Reinking's Discovery at Mountain View apartment and took a number of items. The two rifles were a CZ 452-2EZKM .22 caliber and a Remington 30-06.Police found hundreds of .22 caliber rifle bullets, 87 30-06 bullets, 30 .223 bullets, 29 .45 bullets and 43 .22 caliber bullets.They also found four cell phones, two scopes, a notebook, a safe and several computers. The affidavit describes Reinking's apartment as a one-bedroom apartment. Police said he has been living there for three months. Inside of Reinking's truck that was left at the Waffle House, police found two checks made out to "Travis J. Rankins [sic]." Also, police found an iPod and a Buck Knife with a black sheath.Assorted documents and papers were found in both the apartment and the truck, though what information they contain was not specified.
