SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Three Port of San Diego Harbor Police officers tested positive for coronavirus, the department announced Wednesday.After learning of the positive results, the Port of San Diego says it notified the department and port staff.The officers are isolated and undergoing treatment at their homes and will seek further care should it be necessary. Their condition is unclear at this time.The department also said it’s working with San Diego County health officials to conduct contract tracing and notify people who had close contact with the officers.“Prioritizing the health and well-being of the public, our partners, and Port employees and their families, the Port encourages and reminds the public, for their health as well as that of first responders, to wear face coverings, practice and maintain social distancing, wash hands frequently, and avoid crowded spaces and gatherings,” the Port of San Diego said in a news release. 953

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – The San Diego Padres have acquired Mike Clevinger from the Cleveland Indians, who is considered by many baseball analysts as one of the top starting pitchers in the league.According to MLB Network’s Ken Rosenthal, the Padres acquired Clevinger, Greg Allen, and a player to be named later for a package that includes three major league players -- catcher Austin Hedges, pitcher Cal Quantrill and OF/1B Josh Naylor -- and minor league prospects pitcher Joey Cantillo, SS Gabriel Arias, IF Owen Miller.Clevinger, 29, is 1-1 on the season with a 3.18 earned run average.Allen, 27, is a switch-hitting outfielder who grew up in San Diego. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The widow of a fallen firefighter is opening up about giving birth without the love of her life by her side.Cal Fire Firefighter Engineer Cory Iverson died battling the Thomas Fire in Ventura County in December.His wife, Ashley, was pregnant with their second daughter at the time. Taylor Ivy Frances Iverson was born just a few weeks ago."She looks just like this little twin, especially right after she came out it was a big relief to have her out and to see him again and feel like I was looking into his eyes again," said Ashley.It's been five months since Cory died, but Ashley said it still doesn't seem real. "People will say to me, I can't possibly imagine going through that, and my response is neither can I, cause it really doesn't feel like it's me going through all of this," said Ashley.She was surrounded by family and friends in the hospital the day Taylor was born, but it was the voicemail she played from her late husband while in the delivery room that helped her get through labor."All the doctors were crying, but it just flipped right then and there. It's the most special voice mail I have from him basically talking about how special our relationship is and how grateful he is for us," said Ashley.Ashley wants to honor Cory's memory by starting a foundation to help first responders deal with the trauma they see on the job."The things that they see and experience are things that the human brain can't just push out, it needs to be worked through," said Ashley.As heartbroken as she is, she's always thinking about the men and women who were on the fire lines with Cory the day he died."Through trust and communication, these men and women can heal," said Ashley. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The suspect of a Spring Valley murder nearly seven years has been arrested in New York.Waverly James, 49, was arrested in New York for the Dec. 6, 2012, murder of 52-year-old Stanford Roy Johnson, according to the San Diego Sheriff's Department.Deputies say they were called to a home in the 9000 block of Lemon St. on Dec. 6, 2012, for a welfare check. Deputies found the rear door open and discovered Johnson dead from multiple stab wounds.James was identified as a suspect and arrested on a warrant in New York. He will be extradited to San Diego and booked for murder. 599

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The San Diego City Council will look into creating "Bus-Only" lanes along a 2.7 mile stretch of El Cajon Boulevard.The lanes would go from Park Avenue to Fairmount Street, an area commonly known as "The Boulevard." MTS Route 1 and the 215 Rapid Route are the most frequent buses along that stretch. Route 1 runs along El Cajon Boulevard from La Mesa to Fashion Valley. The Rapid 215, which launched in 2014, goes from Downtown to San Diego State University, offering fewer stops than traditional bus lines."When it was originally designed, it did have these exclusive lanes," says MTS Spokesperson Rob Schupp. "That's really what makes Bus Rapid Transit work, is when you can zip by all the cars."Combined, the 215 and 1 carry more than 10,000 passengers per day along El Cajon Boulevard. That makes it the second busiest stretch of road in the MTS system.Schupp says dedicated bus lanes would take up to 5 minutes off the trip, which could lead to more passengers."We're hoping this pilot will show us that a dedicated lane along a long stretch of road can build ridership and get people out of cars," he says. "The buses come faster, you get another 5 minutes from the dedicated lanes, and now your trip is competitive with a car."A recent study by the city's Transportation Engineering Operations office details three options for a bus-only lane. One option would separate the right lanes of traffic from the other lanes with a solid white line and markings that say "Bus Only." Another option would paint the entire right lane red and designate it for buses. A third option would make "pass by zones" in the most congested parts of the street, painting them red and allowing buses to bypass cars at intersections.Business leaders along "The Boulevard" say adding bus-only lanes would make the area safer, providing a buffer between the sidewalk and traffic. They also feel the change would lead to more people spending more time in the area."There's definitely a sentiment of wanting to make El Cajon Blvd a safer business district," says Beryl Foreman from the Boulevard Business Improvement Association.Foreman also says it will help with parking problems in North Park and City Heights, as better bus service will lead to fewer people driving in the area.City Council President Georgette Gomez and Council Member Chris Ward both sent a letter supporting the idea. The full Council will have to approve the project if they decide on the entire red lane option. That's unlikely since the Federal Highway Administration prohibits red Lanes without a special experimental exemption. The other two options do not need City Council approval. 2671
