They're competing to represent the Marines at the National Games, but also finding new ways to heal from their injuries."It helps you know you're not alone," says Lance Corporal Jay Alan Davis, who was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder while on duty.This is LC Davis' first time at the games. He says it's been uplifting to find a sense of camaraderie among the athletes."If you're able to sit there and talk to somebody about it, they're more likely to go to you," he says. "Then you don't have to feel alone. You don't have to be alone."That's the same sentiment that brought Tisha Knickerbocker to the games in 2012. Tisha was a life-long athlete until she broke her back. Finding a way to compete still has helped her mental recovery."It improved everything," she says. "It was great. I really can't find a word that accurately describes the feeling that it gave me to get an old part of myself back."The games run from March 4-12 at Camp Pendleton. Toni Anderson makes no apologies for going after the man she calls her "deadbeat ex" for having her raise their 3-year-old daughter on her own. Anderson says her ex-husband chose to go to Canada rather than pay court-ordered child support in the early 1970s. "I kind of put it on the back burner and just kind of forgot about it over the years," said Anderson. She supported her daughter while working as an interior designer in Los Angeles at a firm her daughter now runs."I'm not negating the fact I was able to send my daughter to college, Paris. CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (KGTV) — A pair of brothers was arrested this week after police say they tried to carjack a man working on his vehicle on Interstate 5, assaulted him, and fled onto Camp Pendleton property.The brothers were traveling on southbound I-5 on Tuesday at about 10 a.m. when their Ford Mustang broke down just north of Las Pulgas Road. The pair walked to Vista Point and asked a truck driver for a ride to Long Beach, but the driver said no, California Highway Patrol said.The brothers then approached a 58-year-old man from San Diego who was working on his broken-down vehicle. The man was leaning over the engine of his vehicle with the hood up when one of the brothers placed the man in a headlock while the other brother assaulted the man in the face and body, CHP said.The truck driver who denied the brothers a lift saw the attack and came to the victim's aid. The brothers fled the area west, and climbed over a fence onto Camp Pendleton, said CHP.Camp Pendelton Police were nearby and quickly found and detained the two. CHP officers responded to the scene as well. The victim received moderate to major injuries during the assault and is expected to recover.Gonzalo Lopez, 24, and Eusebio Lopez, 19, both from Long Beach, were arrested and charged with assault and battery, and attempted carjacking. Gonzalo was also charged with driving under the influence while Eusebio was charged with being drunk in public. 1444

(KGTV) - Twenty-nine migrants were processed at the Calexico Port of Entry after non-profits say they were separated from their children and deported.Sandra Cordero, Director at Families Belong Together, said 27 children ages 5 to 15 have been separated from their parents. Some for more than a year. Cordero said the parents came from Central America, including Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.Together Rising and Al Otro Lado raised money to fly the parents to Tijuana. Cordero said they stayed in Tijuana for two weeks preparing to go to the Calexico Port of Entry. Cordero said they presented themselves Saturday morning and U.S. Customs and Border Protection told them the detention center was at capacity.While waiting, Cordero shared some of the parents' stories, "he was trying to prepare his son because he knew they would be separated but he couldn't find the words or the feeling of how he was going to tell him that," Speaking about a man named Jose from Guatemala. He stood beside her while she spoke and wiped away tears. After 10 hours, the parents were brought in to process their asylum requests."We just found out that they're going to accept five families at a time and they're letting them all in, so thank you thank you thank you," Amanda Doyle, Vice President of Together Rising, said tearfully."I think it was really us, our presence here, and the presence of all of our supporters online, calling tweeting, pressuring, we're so lucky to have all these supporters that made today happen," Cordero said.Cordero said they would be back Sunday to ensure the parents were being processed quickly so they may be connected with their U.S. sponsors and ultimately reunited with their children. (AP) — NASCAR has cleared Kyle Larson to return in 2021, ending his long suspension for using a racial slur while playing a video racing game. “NASCAR continues to prioritize diversity and inclusion across our sport,” the sanctioning body said in an official statement. “Kyle Larson has fulfilled the requirements set by NASCAR and has taken several voluntary measures, to better educate himself so that he can use his platform to help bridge the divide in our country," NASCAR said in a press release. "Larson’s indefinite suspension has been lifted. Under the terms of his reinstatement, he will be cleared to return to all NASCAR racing activities effective January 1, 2021.”Larson was suspended in April after he used the n-word while playing an online racing game in which viewers could follow along.
