Now, the offer is good for anyone in Illinois, regardless if you voted or not. Uber, which is among ride-sharing companies that are offering free rides to the polls through its app, said the following: "This offer is not intended to induce, nor is it conditioned on, the act of voting, refraining from voting or voting for or against any particular candidate, political party or measure."Lyft is also offering help for those looking for a ride to the polls. It will take 50 percent off the cost of a ride on Tuesday by using a promo code, which will be available on its app on Tuesday. Rental car service Zipcar is offering off a future ride for those who use its service on Election Day. If you're looking to use two wheels to get to the polls, Lime is offering 30-minute rentals of its scooters and bikes on Election Day. In the world of food, Potbelly is offering free cookies on Tuesday and Wednesday, with the only requirement being that you purchase an entree. Shake Shack is offering free French fries by either showing an "I voted" sticker or by using code "IVoted" on its app.  1938

Two men are in jail after police say they stole a car -– with an infant inside.About 7:30 p.m. Monday, officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in the parking lot of a business in Boise, Idaho.“Evidence indicates that a car had been left running outside of a store, when it was stolen by two men,” according to a Boise Police Department news release. A 6-month-old infant was in the car when it was stolen. A parent pursued the car, until the driver stopped several blocks away.“One of the men exited with the child, who was still strapped into the infant car seat.  (The parent) safely took the child from the man. Thankfully, the child was unharmed,” the release stated.The suspect, later identified as Raymundo Gutierrez, 23, of Boise, was detained at the scene until officers arrived.  The other male fled in the stolen vehicle, officers said.Gutierrez was booked into the Ada County Jail and charged with accessory to grand theft, a felony.About 1:00 a.m. Tuesday, Boise Police received information that the stolen vehicle had been recovered in Canyon County -- and the driver, later identified as Robert DeShazo, was booked into the Canyon County Jail. He’s charged with felony possession of stolen property and driving under the influence, a misdemeanor.  Authorities said both suspects could face additional charges.          1396

(KGTV) - Amid a COVID-related cancellation at a Valley Center cemetery, a community is coming together to help save an annual tradition.Valley Center Cemetery is the final resting place to more than 300 veterans. On Friday, local florist Jenelle Brinneman learned an annual holiday sight would not be laid out.She says the local chapter of a nonprofit that puts down Christmas wreaths at military grave markers announced there would be no wreaths, citing logistical problems in placing them amid COVID-19 restrictions and stay-at-home orders."Our hearts dropped, because we know how much it means," said Brinneman.On Memorial Day and Veterans Day, Brinneman raised money to place roses at military grave sites amid similar cancellations."There were strangers thanking us. People were crying, watching us put roses down," said Brinneman.Undeterred after the most recent disappointment, Brinneman posted on Facebook on Friday a call for donations to make wreath sprays, a smaller version of wreaths. When she returned home Saturday evening, she discovered something astounding."I just started crying right there. Our town is amazing ... My driveway was filled with pine, cedar, ribbons, and wreaths companies were about to throw away," said Brinneman.Brinneman set up a workshop in her driveway. Dozens of volunteers have signed up to help assemble."This is what the Christmas spirit is all about," said Brinneman.She's also hoping to include message from kids."It will be so great to walk past and see a little note attached from an amazing child in our town," said Brinneman.Brinneman says come Christmas Eve -- thanks to a community's support -- she'll be able to place the sprays at every military grave marker in the cemetery."They deserve to be recognized. Seeing the wreaths on the grave markers is something unexplainable. Because of the community, loves ones will see those wreaths," said Brinneman.Brinneman is still in need of a lot of messages from kids. VALLEY CENTER, Calif. (KGTV) — A nine-hour standoff between San Diego SWAT officers and a Valley Center man ended with the suspect peacefully surrendering to authorities.William Halverson was arrested hours after the standoff unfolded in the early hours Saturday. He faces multiple charges, including domestic violence, elder abuse, and felon in possession of a firearm, according to San Diego Sheriff's Department.Deputies were called to a home in the 12000 block of Lilac Knolls Road just after 10 p.m. Friday over a verbal argument. When authorities contacted the victim inside the residence, they say they learned a dependent adult was immobilized inside.Halverson made several statements he would "kill anyone who come on his property, including law enforcement," SDSO says. The victim heard Halverson chamber a shotgun, deputies say, and knew of multiple weapons inside the house.A SWAT unit and SDSO Crisis Negotiation Team responded and urged Halverson to surrender.Halverson was arrested at about 9 a.m. and booked into Vista Detention Facility. 1062

Update, Tuesday morning: A social media post indicates Dan was welcomed back to his position.ESCONDIDO (KGTV) - Escondido neighbors outraged after their favorite city worker was fired Friday, rallied to get him his job back.Sunday night a small group gathered at Escondido City Hall to tell 10News why they believe it was wrong Dan Naylor was fired.Naylor is known in the community as their ambassador, fondly called "Dan the Man" for his work in public service. He picked up trash along Grand Avenue for years and was hired by the city to clean up Grape Park in 2017, he would have celebrated his first work anniversary in November.Naylor was also recognized by Mayor Sam Abed for his work.Naylor is not an average city worker. He was hit by a car when he was 7-years-old, while living in Oceanside. "I died for 10 minutes, three times... God told me to do the best that I can and be the best that I can," he said.Since then, he's had trouble speaking and limited mobility on his left side.Friday Dan said he was brought into his boss's office and told he was being fired for wearing his uniform while drinking a beer at Vinz after work a few weeks prior. Patti Thompson, a friend and self appointed advocate for Dan, started asking questions, "I got my questions answered by people within the City, so I checked my facts by people that are credible that work in the City office...
