SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Young adults in the U.S. are moving more frequently than they did in 1960, according to a new report by Zillow. Data from San Diego, however, paints a different picture. According to the site, 33.8 percent of young adults in 1960 lived in their current home for less than two years. In 2017, more than 45 percent of young adults had lived in their current home for less than two years. San Diego, however, bucks the trend. In America’s Finest City, in 2017 the share of young adults who lived in a home less than two years is 50.6 percent, down from 54.4 percent in 1960. The data show that young San Diegans are moving less than in 1960. Among young adults who recently moved in the San Diego area, more than 68 percent moved within the metro, while 9.4 percent moved from a different metro in the state and 22.3 percent moved from outside the state. According to Zillow, changes in workplace norms have contributed to the changes in housing tenures. Zillow also says that, rather than climb the corporate ladder, many young adults move from one role or job to the next. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children is asking for the public’s help locating a 16-year-old girl who reportedly disappeared from her Northern California home.Lia Long is described as a light skinned Native American female, standing 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing 125 pounds with long black hair and brown eyes. Long currently has one dermal (dimple) piercing on both her right and left cheek.Long is said to have a tattoo with the words “forever in my heart Alyssa 05/23/17” tattooed on her right clavicle and another with the upside down crescent moon on her right thigh.Police are also looking trying to identity a light skinned white or Hispanic male and a black male adult who are believed to have left the city of Williams with Long. No further information about the two males was provided.A vehicle associated in the search is a blue/silver colored BMW, possibly a 7 series, Lakeport Police said."We continue to be concerned for Long’s safety and ask anyone with information regarding her location or activity to contact your local law enforcement agency or the Lakeport Police Department via Facebook, anonymous text message from your cellular phone by texting the words TIP LAKEPORT followed by your message to the number 888777 or by telephone at 707-263-5491,” police said. 1368

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Two inmate deaths in San Diego detention facilities this year are being attributed to drug overdoses and called accidental.The first occurred on July 20 at the San Diego Central Jail, where Michael Hossfeld, 41, was found unresponsive in his cell, according to the San Diego Sheriff's Department. Deputies began life-saving measures and Hossfeld was taken to a nearby hospital, where he remained in a coma and on life support until Aug. 3.The county medical examiner this week determined Hossfeld had died from anoxic encephalopathy due to acute fentanyl toxicity and ruled his death an accident.Hossfeld had been in custody for 691 days and was charged with multiple crimes, including robbery.On Aug. 26, deputies at George Bailey Detention Facility found Jose Sevilla, 39, unresponsive in his cell. Deputies began CPR, but he was pronounced dead shortly after he was found.The medical examiner report said that Sevilla died from acute heroin intoxication and his death was also deemed an accident.Sevilla had been in jail since May 30 on drug- and theft-related charges.SDSO did not provide any further information regarding the deaths.According to the Associated Press, there have been at least 13 in-custody deaths in San Diego jails this year. 1275

SAN DIEGO (KGTV)— As Governor Jerry Brown visited Ground Zero for the Camp Fire in Paradise, a San Diego woman is doing the same. Corine Finnigan has more than 100 family members who lived in Paradise, and is now driving a truckload of supplies and cash to help them. Her adult niece, Christine Blackburn told 10news about her harrowing escape through the flames. While the fire was inching closer to her car, she shot video. In it, you can hear her trying to comfort her four and six-year-old children, sitting frightened in the backseat. But this escape story is not unique to Blackburn. In fact, her aunt Cynthia Watts also narrowly escaped the fire.“That was the most terrifying experience of my life,” Watts said.The taxi driver lived on the East side of town, where the fire began. Immediately, she packed her car and drove south. Minutes later, she was in bumper to bumper traffic. "I don't think we moved an entire inch in an entire hour,” Watts recalled.She tried driving on the Northbound lanes on Skyway Street, but the jam never let up. So she abandoned her car and ran for her life."I just started hoofing it,” she said. Watts walked and walked, passing rows of cars on the town's main road. She was even offered rides from drivers stuck on the road but refused. That was until she heard a co-worker screaming to get into his truck. The next thing she knew, they were in Chico, with absolutely nothing.“Thank you, God. I got out of there, in the nick [of time],” she said. This escape story is also not unique to Watts. In fact, she has nearly 100 extended family members in the small city, all who are now homeless."They have nothing,” Finnigan said. Finnigan is Watt's youngest sister of thirteen children. While she moved to San Diego a few years ago, Finnigan spent most of her life in Paradise. This year, she and her husband Bryan are spending their 22nd wedding anniversary, driving up supplies to her family.“We look like hoarders now, with bags and bags and bags of clothes, shoes, towel, and toys,” Finnigan said. With the help of her friends and co-workers, she was able to collect the donations, including ,000 in cash for the survivors in the Camp Fire. One miracle, Watts said, was that everyone in their family managed to escape in time.  2336

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Uber recently released a safety report highlighting the number of sexual assaults reported by passengers between 2017 and 2018.In the two years, nearly 6,000 people reported being sexually assaulted. Of those, 464 reported being raped.“When you get in the car you should be able to feel safe, like nothing is going to happen to you,” said attorney Mike Bomberger. "It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize the changes of that happening are going to be exponentially lower."Uber has already started doing this in some states."I hope their intent is to roll that out in other states as well because that is the single biggest way they’re going to prevent women from being harmed and assaulted," said Bomberger.
