SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Two people were arrested on suspicion of vandalizing a school in the College East area late Thursday night.At around 11 p.m., San Diego police were called to Harriet Tubman School on 6880 Mohawk St. in response to two people seen on the campus.When officers arrived, the two people ran away. SAN DIEGO (KGTV)- As elections are quickly approaching, a San Diego man is expressing concerns after discovering what appeared to be undelivered mail ballots and voter guides in City Heights.“I was out walking the dogs, and I found this stack of voter ballots; it was mixed in with ballot envelopes and voter guides,” said Jeremy Alaynick. “Just kept finding them the more I walked.”He sent ABC10News pictures that appeared to show a combination of approximately two dozen unvoted ballots and sample ballot/voter information pamphlets.Alaynick, a professional dog walker, said he did not report the incident immediately because he was walking dogs for a client.“I would have picked them all up and taken them to the post office, but I’m thinking about the dogs, and that just wasn’t running through my mind at that moment,” he said.He was working to report the incident Wednesday.Registrar of Voters, Michael Vu, tells ABC 10News, situations like this are uncommon, and investigations are launched as soon as his office is aware.“What we generally do is we touch base with the US Postal Service. It would have been great to receive this information at the time rather than a week later, particularly for those respective voters but also for us to be able to manage it,” he said.Vu said if voters have concerns or haven’t received their ballots by mail, options are available.“We are tracking every single one of these ballots, so when a voter says they have not received their mail ballot, we have the ability to suspend that ballot and reissue them another one,” he said. “If there are voted mail ballots that come back to our office, we compare the signature off of the envelope against the signature on file. That whole corridor, which is most of San Diego except the immediate coast, the hottest period from June through October on record so that's made our fuels drier than they've ever been."The heat leaving San Diego vulnerable to a devastating fire season."We had the Valley fire in September, it could have been a lot worse, so this rain doesn't end our fire season but it puts a huge dent in it," Tardy saidThe winter forecast is fairly dry. SAN DIEGO (KGTV)- A Solana Beach man's trip to Bali takes an unexpected turn after a motorcycle accident. While he's thousands of miles away, the pandemic has made things even more complicated.28-year-old Anthony Galvan- Schaible packed his bags for Bali in February with the intent to stay until April. In March, the pandemic hit, forcing him to stay in Paradise a little longer."It was one of those things to sit it out and wait was the better idea," says Galvan- Schaible.He says one night he hopped on his motorcycle, and that's when things took an unexpected turn."The bike went to the street. I went to the left and ended up in a little ditch head first."He was rushed to the hospital after hitting his head on a concrete pillar. The impact compressed his spine. Within hours he was taken to emergency surgery. Galvan- Schaible now has multiple screws and plates along his back."It's terrifying… when they're across the planet and get hurt," says Mom, Jamie Schaible. "All you can think of is how can they get the care that they would get here."Because of travel restrictions, mom says it was stressful not knowing how she would get to her son."We reached out to the Indonesian embassy and just pleaded from a mother's heart and leaned on their compassion," says Schaible. "They bent over backwards to get me my visas."This allowed her to get to her son's bedside.Galvan-Schaible says he is starting to regain feeling in his hand.
