SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A judge decided Wednesday not to order a second trial for the man accused in the disappearance and murder of his stepson.Tieray Jones cried after the decision was made in the downtown courthouse.Jones was charged with killing 2-year-old Jahi Turner. Jahi was last seen at a park near Balboa Park in April 2002. Jones reported the boy missing, telling police Jahi wandered off.A mistrial was declared in for Jones on March 16.Jones was facing several charges including second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter. Two jurors found Jones guilty of murder while 10 did not. 10 jurors found Jones guilty of involuntary manslaughter and two did not.During the trial, the judge asked if jurors would be able to reach a verdict if given more time to deliberate. After Jahi disappeared, a countywide search followed. Thousands of people looked for the boy in the park and Golden Hill neighborhood. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A local dreamer is fighting for a chance to see his dying grandfather in Mexico.Luis Tinoco, who was brought to the United States in 1989 when he was five-years-old, received protective status under DACA, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program enacted during the Obama Administration.In the past, DACA recipients have been allowed to travel to their country of origin during emergencies if they obtained an “advanced parole” permit from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.On Thursday, Tinoco and his lawyer submitted an application at the UCIS office in Downtown San Diego. But they said it was denied.Tinoco can still apply by mail but he predicts it could be months before he gets a response.“There’s a high chance it might get accepted, but meanwhile, I don’t know what’s going to happen to my grandpa,” he said.Tinoco says he hasn’t seen his grandpa since he was five. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A power outage affected thousands San Diego Gas & Electric customers in the Ocean Beach area and SeaWorld late Friday.The outage was reported just before 4 p.m. It wasn't immediately clear what led to the outage.SeaWorld said the power outage was short lived and only affected the central and west areas of the theme park. No guests were trapped on any rides or injured and all animals were okay, according to the park.UPDATED TRAFFIC CONDITIONSThe outage also hit a portion of San Diego International Airport. Officials say power has since been restored but had affected Terminal 2 and the Rental Car Center.In total, about 15,000 customers have been affected, according to the power company. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A man carjacked two vehicles within hours in Otay Mesa, San Diego Police said Friday.The first carjacking happened in the parking lot of the Iris Trolley Station on Iris Ave. about 10:30 p.m. Thursday.A man was outside of his Volkswagen Jetta and a woman was sitting in the car when the suspect got into the driver’s seat, police said.The woman got out of the car and the suspect drove away, according to San Diego Police.Officers searched the area and found the suspect had parked the Jetta at Palm Ave. and Beyer Way and carjacked another car.Two men who were sitting in a Hyundai Genesis when the suspect grabbed the driver and pulled him out of the car. The passenger got out and the suspect drove away in the Genesis, officers said.The suspect crashed into a white SUV at I-805 and Sweetwater, police said.Paramedics took the driver, 33-year-old Daniel Perez, to the hospital with a knee injury. 927
