PORT MORESBY, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed the importance of building an open, inclusive, innovative and rule-based world economy while addressing the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit here on Saturday.

To further enhance the role of Internet in poverty reduction, China rolled out a plan earlier this year to step up efforts in developing rural e-commerce, Internet-based healthcare and online education.

In his talks with Chile's President Sebastian Pinera, Xi urged efforts from both sides to secure more early results in BRI cooperation and push bilateral cooperation to a higher level.

Leaders at the meeting expressed a strong will to reach the deal as soon as possible, which will send a strong signal on preserving multilateralism and free trade and to boost economic growth and globalization.

He encouraged both sides to strengthen cooperation in areas of innovation, e-commerce, agriculture, energy, nuclear energy and transportation.
