(KGTV) - Organizers of the Imperial Beach Sun and Sea Festival say they're ready to go this year, despite a recent sewage spill from Tijuana."It's always on my mind," says Co-Chair Shirley Nakawatase. "I think it's an ongoing situation that we have at the beach."Nakawatase says the spill shouldn't impact the festival, because they only use ocean water for the sandcastle competition. If the water is considered unsafe, they can use fresh water purchased from Cal-Am."We're going to request daily testing to make sure the bacteria count is low," she says, noting that testing will begin on the Monday before the festival.A recent sewage spill dumped 3.5 million gallons of sewage into the ocean south of Imperial Beach, prompting a full closure of the coast in the area. (AP) -- A California man has been charged with poisoning eight homeless people with an incredibly spicy resin derived from chili peppers so that he could videotape their reactions.Authorities in Southern California's Orange County say 38-year-old William Robert Cable fed the victims food laced with oleoresin capsicum, which is twice as strong as pepper spray used by police.The victims suffered seizure-like symptoms, difficulty breathing, vomiting and intense mouth and stomach pain. Some had to be hospitalized.Cable was arrested last month in Huntington Beach and prosecutors announced Thursday that he's been charged with nine felonies and various misdemeanor counts.Cable is being held in jail on 0,000 bail. 751

HUDSON, Ohio — A Hudson woman who hosted a large house party at a rental home in October was convicted in Municipal Court Tuesday for violating state health orders to prevent the spread of coronavirus.The woman was convicted of violations prohibited and criminal damaging, both second-degree misdemeanors, according to court records.On Oct. 10, the woman used a website to rent a home in the 6800 block of Windsor Road in Hudson, according to court records. More than 150 people attended the party, in excess of the number of people allowed by the mass gatherings order that limits groups to no more than 10 people.Attendees caused more than ,500 in damage to the property, according to court records.The Akron Beacon Journal reported that on the night of the party, police were called to the scene and multiple vehicles were towed throughout the night.
