POWAY, Calif. (KGTV) - The Jewish community of Poway dedicated a Torah scroll in memory of Lori Kaye, who was killed in the deadly shooting at the Chabad of Poway Synagogue. The dedication ceremony took place inside the Synagogue Wednesday evening, where Kaye was shot and killed. The April 27th anti-Semitic attack injured three other people worshiping on the last day of Passover. The Torah considered Judaism's most sacred object. It is sponsored by the Jaffa Family Foundation of New York, Cleveland, and Minneapolis. Rabbi Yisroel Goldstein described Kaye as a kind and generous soul. "Her legacy is going to continue through this Torah scroll," Goldstein said, motioning to one they dedicated to her. "And every Saturday we take it out, everyone touches it and kisses it, it's like blowing a kiss to Lori in heaven, remembering her forever and ever." POWAY, Calif. (KGTV) -- A Poway family is desperately searching for their beloved cat who was last seen getting into a car with an Amazon delivery driver Monday night. Rachael Dominguez shared her doorbell camera footage with 10News which shows Cofi the Siamese cat interacting with the driver on the front porch. Another angle shows the same driver and the cat getting into a car and driving away.Dominguez contacted the Poway Sheriff's Department and Amazon. The company told her the driver says he thought Cofi was a stray and was trying to help but the cat jumped out of his car at a later stop.The driver says Cofi jumped out around Cree Court in Poway. Dominguez is asking people living in that area to keep an eye out for the cat. 746

POWAY, Calif. (KGTV) -- Crews extinguished a brush fire that sparked in a riverbed near Poway Tuesday afternoon. The brush fire sparked around 1 p.m. near Poway Road and Sabre Springs Parkway. According to Cal Fire, the wind-driven fire burned about one acre in an area with heavy fuel. Two helicopters were ordered to the scene to fight the blaze. At this time, the cause is unknown. Homes were in the path of the blaze, but were never threatened. In all, firefighters from Poway, San Diego, Cal Fire and Santee fought the blaze. 539

POWAY, Calif., (KGTV)-- Fire crews battled a house fire in Poway Sunday afternoon after neighbors heard hissing sounds and an explosion. Poway and San Diego Fire departments responded to the 13,000 block of Silver Saddle Lane after getting a 9-1-1 call at around 1:15 pm. When crews arrived, they found the side of the home on fire. "The fire was just on the garage and the exterior of the garage. It appears it did not make it into the house," Poway Fire Battalion Chief Ray Fried said. Batt. Chief Fried said the methane levels were too high, above 0 ppm, which meant his fire crews needed to stand down until SDG&E cleared the gas leak. "We're not going inside at this time, because the gas readings are fairly high inside the house," Batt. Chief Fried said. No one was inside the home at the time of the explosion.
