SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- SeaWorld San Diego’s Skyride reopened Wednesday after a ‘”gust of significant wind” caused the ride to close in mid-February. According to SeaWorld, the park, along with the ride’s manufacturer and the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health inspected various parts of the ride over the last several months, including the towers, gondolas, ride cables and various other equipment. SeaWorld says the ride’s communication cable was also replaced. Paradise Point Resort & Spa on Vacation Isle Park in Mission Bay is rebranding into a Margaritaville Island Beach Resort, with an anticipated opening of 2020-21.The existing property will be renovated and converted for an estimated million. It will feature 462 casita-style single-story guest rooms, waterfront views with a mile of beachfront, Margaritaville food and beverage concepts, new recreational activities and family-friendly amenities.Margaritaville is a global lifestyle brand inspired by the lyrics and lifestyle of singer, songwriter and best-selling author Jimmy Buffett, whose songs evoke a passion for tropical escape and relaxation.Davidson Hotels & Resorts will operate the property as Paradise Point Resort & Spa until the hotel is reflagged, and will continue to manage the property following the completion of the renovation and rebranding.Paradise Point's general manager, Michael Stephens tells 10News, "Some of the first things were investing in is restaurants." Following last years 22 million dollar guest room renovation, the new project will focus on updating the rest of the property and adding new restaurants. "Emperor", named after the biggest species of penguin, which can be seen at the park's popular "Penguin Encounter" attraction."It will be the tallest, fastest, longest, and the only floorless dive coaster in the state of California and the entire west coast of North America," said Senior Vice President of Attractions Mike Denninger.RELATED: SeaWorld's new dive coaster will be named 'Emperor'The ride reaches 153 feet at its tallest point, tops 60 miles per hour, and includes multiple inversions. The centerpiece of the ride, however, is the 90-degree, straight down drop. Denninger says the train will freeze for a few seconds just after going over the edge, ratcheting up the anticipation, while also offering unparalleled views of SeaWorld and Mission Bay. "I think it will be wonderful.
