Duncan Hunter (R-CA) and his wife, Margaret, on suspicion of campaign funding misuse.The affidavit detailed instances from 2009 through 2016 in which the Hunters reportedly used campaign money illegally for things like video games, family vacations, school tuition, and more.Over the course of a year, Hunter vehemently denied the allegations, often calling the indictment "politically motivated."On Dec. 2, 2019, Hunter agreed to change his plea to guilty to one count. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Lifeguards in Pacific Beach are frustrated they being forced to spend less time monitoring the water and more time monitoring the trash left on their station.Not only do lifeguards at the station at the end of Grand Ave. has seen trash thrown onto the roof, clothing left behind, and even trash cans tossed on top of its flag pole."Cans, plastic bags, clothes, anything really that can be found on the boardwalk," says San Diego Lifeguard Sgt. Kerry Brown. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Local law enforcement made the holidays a little brighter for hundreds of deserving kids. The 26th annual "Shop with a Cop" event brought 300 kids out to go on a shopping spree with local officers, from San Diego Police to California Highway Patrol to San Diego County Sheriff's deputies.The shopping spree was just the tip of the iceberg for kids Saturday morning. Their day started at SeaWorld San Diego, where they had breakfast with officers and enjoyed a Christmas-themed dolphin show. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - In an effort to help solve the homeless problem, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday to approve a program that will provide million in financing for seven affordable housing projects.The new development will add 503 units."This is a game changer," says Supervisor Ron Roberts, who championed the proposal along with Supervisor Dianne Jacob. "For the people that need this, this will be a godsend."The money comes from the Innovative Housing Trust Fund, which was created in 2017 to help provide gap financing to developments that can add affordable multi-family rental housing.Many of the units from the first seven projects will be earmarked for the homeless, veterans, people with disabilities or mental illness, families and seniors."For a family of 4 earning just over 70,000 dollars, they won't pay more than 1,900 dollars a month," Roberts says. "You can't find enough bedrooms for a family of four at 1,900 dollars in San Diego."The seven projects will be spread out throughout the county with two in the Otay Mesa/San Ysidro area, two in Vista and one each in Poway, San Marcos and the Southcrest neighborhood of San Diego.All of the projects are expected to be completed by December of 2021. 1288

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Less than a day after announcing that two students have contracted coronavirus, San Diego State University officials confirmed Thursday that two more students tested positive for the disease.Thursday's announcement raises the number of coronavirus cases on SDSU's campus to four since kicking off the fall semester this week.Officials said the two new cases are unrelated to the previous cases, and that the two students had only been to the campus to see testing at the Student Health Services.
