SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Covid Clinic’s debut in San Diego County was a little rocky in April when it was shut down by Dr. Wilma Wooten, the county’s public health officer.Fast forward to today, the operation seems to be running smoothly in both La Mesa and Downtown San Diego.“Since we were one of the first to open in San Diego County, there were some things that were brought to our attention that the county wanted,” said Covid Clinic CEO, Matt Collins. “So once we met each of the items that they were requesting, we’ve been able to continue testing without any issues.”Wooten sent a letter to Covid Clinic stating that the first site at MiraCosta College in Cardiff needed to shut down because the proper credentials to operate were not provided to the county. Test results also were not immediately reported to the county.Collins said the clinic now reports results to the county every day.He said, on average, about 100 to 150 people are tested at the downtown location, while about 350 to 400 are tested in La Mesa. While many testing sites are now limiting COVID-19 tests to those who have symptoms or fall in the high-risk category, Collins said anyone could schedule an appointment online to be tested at Covid Clinic.Across the country, people have also reported significant delays in test results. Covid Clinic offers three different tests, and Collins said they guarantee quick results.“We understand how important it is to get a result quickly,” said Collins. The antibody and antigen tests come with rapid results in just 60 minutes for 0.The nasal swabs require lab testing, but results can still be provided within the same day, the next day, or two days, however, it is a bit pricier.“The price varies from 375 dollars for a guaranteed two-day turnaround to 425 dollars for same-day turnaround. We’re seeing a lot of demand for that test because people need to travel,” he explains.Collins said the clinic has partnered with a lab in Orange County to deliver results without delays.“We’re going to continue to strive to make testing accessible to San Diegans and always provide the most accurate tests,” he said.In addition to San Diego County, Covid Clinic has drive-thru testing sites in Westminster, Ventura, Norco, and Temecula. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Before taking children trick-or-treating this Halloween, families are encouraged to visit The Megan's Law Website where hundreds of registered sex offenders are listed across San Diego. The search tool allows families to look up registered sex offenders in their neighborhood or other parts around the state and see them on a map."Megan’s Law also authorizes local law enforcement agencies to notify the public about sex offender registrants found to be posing a risk to public safety," the site says. The map lists markers surrounding the address used in the search.  Users can input any address and radius for a broader search. Information includes images of the sex offender, known aliases, addresses, description of the person, offenses, and a risk assessment.According to website, some of the registrants are currently in violation of their registration requirements and asks the public to contact police with information they may have about these individuals. The website was created and named after 7-year-old Megan Kanka, of New Jersey, who was brutally raped and killed in 1994 by her neighbor, Jesse Timmendequas.  Timmendequas had been convicted for sexually assaulting young girls.  After serving less than a year in a correctional facility, he  moved into a home across the street from the family without their knowledge. "In the wake of that tragedy, the Kankas sought to have local communities warned about sex offenders in the area. All states in the U.S. now have some form of Megan's Law," the website says. The website indicates that some of the registrants are currently in violation of their registration requirements. Any information you may have on these individuals should be reported to your local law enforcement agency.LINK: https://www.meganslaw.ca.gov/ 1856

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Anti-tax advocates rallied Wednesday against an array of bond measures across San Diego County say they will add more than billion in debt to San Diego taxpayers if they all pass. "We have to say no to the big bond bailout of 2018," said anti-tax advocate Carl DeMaio, flanked by a dozen supporters, and Tony Krvaric, chairman of the Republican Party in San Diego County. While calling for an across the board rejection of all bond measures on the ballot, the speakers focused most of their ire on Measure Y-Y, the .5 billion measure for the San Diego Unified School District.RELATED: What you need to know about voting this November"These bonds are used to cover up financial mismanagement in local government. They are big ol' bailout," said DeMaio. "They're running up the credit card." Tax reform advocates say Y-Y is the third in a series for San Diego Unified that began in 2008. And that the promises of the previous measures were broken.  "You should ask the people who wrote measure Y-Y why they didn't get the projects they put on the list in 2008 and 2012 done," DeMaio said.10News met with San Diego Unified spokesman Andrew Sharp at Grant K-12 in Mission Hills. RELATED: Enthusiasm bump not reflected in early California voting"You can see a state of the art classroom building," Sharp said as he pointed at a new looking structure on the campus. "That was a result of the generous support of taxpayers and proposition S and Z."Grant says the bond measures in 2008 and 2012 were always the first two steps in a three-part improvement of San Diego schools. "In 2008 we developed a district-wide plan; what it would cost to bring all of our schools into working order. And this [Measure Y-Y] is the final phase of that," Grant added.RELATED: See your sample ballot for the November 2018 electionBut Sally Smith, who attended the anti-tax rally, held a property tax bill she said was over ,000 on a modest San Diego home. She told 10News people are simply being pushed to the limit. "She may be at ,000," said Smith. "That's very, very difficult."Opponents maintain these bond measures will cover holes government doesn't want to talk about."It doesn't go where they are told it's going to go," said DeMaio. "The money's always diverted and siphoned off." 2366

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — As the Padres take the field on Friday for their home opener against the Arizona Diamondbacks, fans will not be in the stands in the traditional sense.Instead, the Padres plan to deploy cut-outs of players' family members or loved ones, military members, and select fans to populate Petco Park's seats.During the season, fan cardboard cutouts will be placed in the Lexus Home Plate Club Seats behind home plate, according to the team. Every homestand will feature a different theme, starting with players' families and inspirational figures during opening weekend.RELATED: San Diego video game makers to help fill silence during MLB seasonPadres players and their families submitted photos, including pics of their pets, to be in their special cheer section. The team says 79 photos will be featured. Throughout the season, other themes will include Padres season ticket members, frontline workers, a celebration of Jackie Robinson Day, the 100th anniversary of the Negro League, military members, and first responders.Other chances for fans to get in the stands will be made available through Petco for a limited number of fans to be featured in the Barkyard by Petco section and through USAA for military members in the Military Appreciation Section (Section 325).RELATED: MLB playoffs expanded to 16 teams for 2020, reports sayThe cardboard cutout trend is being utilized more and more by teams during 2020's fanless season at ballparks amid the COVID-19 pandemic. One option has also been to feed in crowd noise. Sorrento Valley-based San Diego Studio, the creators of MLB The Show 20, were tasked with filling up the silence of the ballparks by calling on a large collection of real sounds for just about any play. 1745

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – As hospitals across San Diego prepare to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine to front line workers, questions have been raised about whether receiving the vaccine will be mandated for healthcare employees.“We will not make the vaccine mandatory. We do not make the normal flu vaccine mandatory. We do, however, require our staff to continue to wear masks throughout the entire flu season if they chose to not get the flu vaccine,” Palomar Health CEO Diane Hansen told ABC10 News. She said that Palomar Health’s policy will be no different with the COVID-19 vaccine. On Monday, ABC10 News spoke to hospital representatives at Sharp Healthcare, Scripps Health and Kaiser Permanente. They echoed Palomar Health's policy in that the COVID-19 vaccine will not be mandated but workers who decline to get it must wear PPE.San Diego employment attorney and legal analyst Dan Eaton told ABC10 News on Monday that hospitals can impose a mandate but so far that hasn't happened. “Employers generally have the legal right to mandate vaccination in the private workplace, subject to accommodations for medical conditions and religious objections, but there is a broader ethical question about whether they ought to mandate vaccination,” he said. He explained that the concern becomes whether mandating a resistant population creates a morale problem. “[The question is] whether, at the end of the day, you're acting in a nurturing fashion toward your employees if you mandate a vaccination that they don't want or they don't trust.”Eaton said it may be that at some point the state or federal legislature steps in in some form or fashion with respect to mandatory vaccination, but that's not the current case. 1718
