POWAY, Calif. (KGTV) -- The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is bringing attention to a 51-year-old unsolved murder.On May 1, 1967, 14-year-old Nikki Benedict was stabbed and left to die while walking home from her friend’s house in Poway.The family has gone 51-years without knowing what happened to Nikki. Both of her parents died without answers.Tuesday, one of her three surviving sisters was there with detectives bringing the case back up, hoping anyone with helpful information will come forward.An 11-year-old boy found Nikki suffering at 6:30 in the evening on the tragic day. Deputies and medics tried to save Nikki’s life, but she died after arriving at the hospital.When the crime happened, witnesses reported seeing a young man running from the scene. Investigators say almost every teenage boy in Poway was interviewed at the time but detectives found no connection.51-years later no one has yet been arrested for Nikki’s murder. PORT RICHEY, Fla. — Port Richey, Florida Mayor Dale Massad and his longtime girlfriend Caj Joseph were arrested Aug. 23 on domestic violence charges. Massad was arrested after deputies say he grabbed Joseph and pushed her to the ground.He was charged with a misdemeanor count of domestic battery which required him to spend the night in jail before his first court hearing Friday. In July, police went to Massad's house four dozen times, but he had never been charged with a crime.At the time, he blamed police activity on his girlfriends.“You look in there, see if I made any calls,” he said, pointing to police reports.Joseph, who was arrested Thursday for felony battery of a person over the age of 65, had been charged half a dozen other times for battery, violating protection orders and other crimes allegedly committed at Massad's home.“I'm a felon and I went back there and I don't want to be there,” Joseph told the judge.She also said she was unable to post a 0 bond to get out of jail.“I don't know how to get out of here. I don't have anyone I know. He's not gonna get me out,” Joseph said.Port Richey's city manager instructed the Pasco Sheriff's Office to investigate the case.He could not be reached for comment.Massad and Joseph were ordered not to have any contact with each other after they're released on bond.Massad denied the allegations and said he plans to plead "not guilty."A misdemeanor conviction would not affect his ability to serve in elected office. 1526

(KGTV) -- The brother of Rabbi Yisroel Goldstien pleaded guilty in federal court Monday to charges relating to a conspiracy to conceal more than 0,000 in earnings from the IRS, according to the US Attorneys office.According to a news release, Mendel Goldstein, the owner of a videography business based in Brooklyn pleaded guilty to tax evasion charges.The office says that until 2018, Yisroel Goldstein used the Chabad of Poway to divert his brother’s income and conceal the money from the IRS.RELATED: Poway rabbi pleads guilty to tax fraudAccording to the US Attorneys office, the brothers hid the money by depositing it into Chabad accounts before funneling it back to Mendel Goldstein by writing checks to fictitious names such as “Mr. Green,” Mr. Gold,” and Mr. Fish.”The brothers also agreed that Yisroel Goldstein could keep 10 percent of the income as a fee for the exchange, according to a plea agreement.In 2020, Yisroel Goldstein, along with five other people, pleaded guilty to fraud charges, admitting that he took part in a years-long, multi-million dollar tax-evasion scheme along with other financial deceptions involving the theft of public money, prosecutors said.“People who cheat on their taxes are cheating all honest taxpayers,” said U.S. Attorney Robert Brewer. “We will not tolerate the exploitation of non-profit and religious organizations to line the perpetrators’ pockets at society’s expense.” 1448

President Donald Trump indicated this weekend to associates he is preparing to oust Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin, a source familiar with the conversations confirmed to CNN.CNN's Jeff Zeleny has reported two officials said Shulkin remains the most vulnerable cabinet member.The announcement could happen as early as this week, the source said.
