"We feel at ease back in the motherland.""Many people shed happy tears when they see the plane arriving in Osh," said Song, whose store was forced to close after the unrest."Thank the government for taking us back and thank all of you," said Ahmet, a Uygur man in his forties. BEIJING, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Total value of China's lottery sales hit 63.16 billion yuan (9.26 billion U.S. dollars) in the first five months this year, up 22.8 percent over the same period last year, the country's Ministry of Finance said Saturday.Welfare lottery sales reached 36.73 billion yuan during the same period, a year-on-year increase of 25.9 percent; sales of sports lotterieshit 26.44 billion yuan, up 18.8 percent.In May alone, sales value reached 14.44 billion yuan, up 18.7 percent year on year, a statement on the Ministry's website said.

  

NANNING, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Six people were killed and eleven others injured in an explosion at an illegal private firecracker factory in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, local police said Sunday.The blast hit the factory in a village in Lingshan County, Qinzhou City at about 6 p.m. Sunday, the police said. The cause of the explosion is being investigated.Two people were killed on the spot while four injured died in the hospital after treatments failed.Police said they have arrested a suspect surnamed Lao.Authorities have ordered a city-wide crackdown on unlicensed firecracker factories following the incident.
