PRAIA, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Cape Verde's President Jorge Carlos Fonseca and Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva met with a senior Chinese political advisor here on Friday, pledging to strengthen bilateral ties and expand their friendly cooperation.
"In the past 10 years, Hong Kong has maintained its position among the world's top ranking economies in the report, re-affirming our favorable business environment for overseas companies to set up their regional headquarters and offices, and for all businesses to flourish," a spokesman said.
The two sides agree to maximize and strengthen the on-going coast guard, defense and military dialogue and liaison mechanisms, with a view to facilitating quick responses to situations on the ground and contributing to the enhancement of mutual trust and confidence between their coast guards and defense agencies.
Hua cited President Xi Jinping's speeches during the APEC meeting, which stressed both international and regional cooperation should adhere to the principle of openness, development, inclusiveness and innovation, as well as rules-based approach, to cope with common challenge and achieve mutual benefits.
Referring to Portugal as a good friend and good partner of China in the European Union, Xi said China and Portugal properly resolved the question of Macao in 1999, setting an example for other nations in tackling issues left over from history through friendly negotiations, and laying the foundation of mutual trust and cooperation for the bilateral relations in the 21st century.
